LOL. I love the conspiracy theory! It kinda looks like that when I watch it again.
Actually, I still didn't know if I could trust the brakes at that point so I was relying on a dip in the yard before I got to the road to stop me. Chad was right in front of me and I really didn't want to mow...
Yes it does, Bill!!
Here's a video of the truck pulling forward really easy for the first time. The squeaking that you hear in the background is the Winslow windmill, not the truck :-D
Thanks for the vid, Chad!
Here's a video that Chad shot of the engine. I was revving it up to build air pressure before the maiden voyage. It sounds so nice! Chad also got one of the truck moving, but I need to edit it before I post it. Hopefully, I will get it up tonight.
Brother, don't sell yourself short. You have a bright future as a shade-tree machinist!! :-P
Bruce, sounds like a plan! Hopefully we'll have my truck and Chad's M37 there. Maybe we can even get my Dad and his M756A2 there too!
Thanks Bjorn, but it's the one on the injection pump. I found it impossible to find a M6 metric ball stud with a 6-7mm ball. Everything I found had a 10 mm ball for a gas strut on a foreign car. 10mm was way to big for the socket on the linkage so Chad fab'ed one from a M6 bolt.
Bruce, you...
Great pics. Thanks Chad. I can't wait to see the video!
One thing we didn't have time to investigate was the front pinion flange spinning freely when I was bolting on the drive shaft. I could hear the differential gears spinning in the 3rd member so I don't think anything there is trashed...
Mike, I think it is a much more realistic goal for 2010 rather than 2009! I might just be able to make this one ;)
Bjorn, we were definitely jubilant. There was jumping up and down, high-fiving, hugging, and yelling! It certainly is deserted around there so it is a great place to test drive...
Thanks everyone! I tell you, it is such a relief to know that this truck will actually be on the road in the not too distant future. It has been a long, crazy adventure to get to this point! Once I am satisfied with the fitness of the drive-train and the brakes, it will be time to tackle the...
I drove the truck today!!!!
UPDATE: I made it to John's today around 7:30. Chad joined me around 9:00. We had a great day down there with sunny skies and gentle breezes. While I was waiting on Chad, I made a drawing of the patch panel that I needed to install to mount the throttle linkage...
Welcome to the site, Soni!! I have drooled over your rigs in the pages of 4-wheeling mags for years. I love your tow rig and would appreciate it if you would post some more pictures of it during fabrication.
Can you guys start PM'ing each other about the parts truck instead of filling up my thread with non-project posts? :-D
Yes, the only air lines with tags are the rubber or fabric-coated rubber flex lines that run to the front actuators, the CTIS connections on the front and rear axles, and a...
Bjorn, thanks for the pics. As they say in WV, "That thing's been picked like a chicken!" The only thing I could use is the hand throttle, but Waller beat me to it ;)
Jason, thanks for the tip about GSA. I'll check it out! Maybe I'll fill my cart with some other goodies too. LOL.
Jim...
Yeah, there are a ton of chain falls out there, but I really want to keep as much "correct" stuff on this truck as possible. All else fails, I will go to Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight and pick up one to use until I can find the right one.
Hey gang,
I am working on getting my 925A2 titled. I need to have a county, city, military or state LEO look at my truck that is sitting in Winslow's yard and sign off on my VIN inspection form. Is anyone nearby that can help out? If we can't get together in person at Winslow's, then I can...
The hoist is described in the Hand Receipt as: HOIST ASSEMBLY: chain, hand-operated, hook suspension, 500 lb rated load (19207) 12301088
I searched on google and came up with some hits for a Duff Norton Level Hoist Pulley on eBay in Europe, so there are still some around in NOS condition...
Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for parts. I need the clamp, t-bar and nut that hold the spare tire in place. I also need the chain hoist for the spare tire davit boom. Those parts are all specific to the 939A1/939A2 trucks except for the nut.
That's all I can think of for now.
