Ty, if someone copies something from a private area of this site that is inaccessible to non-members (e.g. the Conversations Forum) with the sole purpose of posting it for banned members, then that member may also be banned. A single instance would warrant a 7-day ban. Multiple instances would...
Cool history, Dave! Is that what the 2 in the red diamond on the bumper means? My 923A2 must have been from the same unit since it had the same markings on it. It had some saltwater corrosion on it too, but not as bad as the current truck. I would love to know what they used this truck for...
Ferro, thanks, this one is a keeper, I promise! ;)
Daniel, I agree! Those Seabee guys really know how to abuse a truck. I don't know which is worse, the saltwater corrosion or all of the missing parts.
Richard, thanks for your perspective. FT is one of your good friends and I understand your need to defend him. I don't fault you for that.
FT may be a good guy at heart, but unfortunately he didn't like to follow the rules. He was given multiple warnings before being permanently banned...
I'm sure a few of you have noticed that FreightTrain is missing from the SS forums. That's because he was banned a while back. There are a few rumors circulating as to why he was banned. Here is a list of the actual reasons:
Failed to heed multiple warnings about breaking multiple site...
Thanks guys! I haven't seen the alcohol clean-up flux before. That's very slick.
One thing I worry about is how far up the wire the salt corrosion goes. I wonder if it will continue to corrode for years to come? I may eventually do a complete harness swap if I can find a NOS one. I found...
Jason, what symptoms does your case have? Grinding? Stuck in low or high range? I rebuilt my t-case sprag on my 818 and got the parts from Memphis Equipment. I have recently purchased a bunch of parts from Clark Truck and they advertise price matching with anyone so you might give them a...
Good point, Bjorn. I used the bare crimp connectors/heat shrink in some of my splices behind the dash. I was going to crimp the headlight wires if the solder didn't take. It took fine after I sanded all of the wires down to the core. My fear was that any remaining salt corrosion would...
Quick update:
I spent most of the day at Winslow's yesterday working on wiring and steering issues. The biggest wiring issues were a cut off headlight switch plug and a cut off front-clip plug. The headlight harness had 12 wires to chase down and the front harness had 8! What a mess! I made...
I will need a M101A3 3/4-ton trailer picked up from Lejeune in the next few weeks after my EUC clears. Anyone close by that may be able to assist? It would be ideal if you can pick it up and stow it for a week or two until I can drive down on a weekend to pick it up.
I managed to get a M101A3 yesterday on GL. She looks real pretty with 12-bolt rims and 37" radials. Now I just need a HMMWV to pull it!! The MEP002A will fit nicely in there and I should be able to stash a lot of other tools and junk around it for road trips.
I need a data plate for it...
