Got the wire run nice...now for the hookup...trying to find a box I can bolt to the genset that has the 1 1/4 diameter hole for the wires to run in to be hooked up.

So it's been a bit so I thought I'd update on the wiring install...I have about 140 feet from the genset to the switch on the house...rented a ditch digger and have that part ready to bury the wire...I bought 2 gauge 3 wire feed with a 4 gauge ground in aluminum...still have to find the shut off...
Ok so if you put the switch down it won't turn over with the outside start switch and no fuel pump clicking? I just checked my push button emergency shut off switch...with it pushed in the off position there's no con...with it pulled out running there is...so those 2 wires coming out where the...
I didn't see the pics in the original post...the dead switch has to be in the normal position...then you should hear the fuel pump clicking once you turn the main switch to start...I'd be curious too that the shut off push button switch is missing...not sure if that will run without it.

Did you buy it not running like mothballed or in storage mode? If so you gotta get the deisal purged of air before it'll start...I'm assuming it turns over normally...I got mine that way and it took a little play time to get it purged.

Ok let me take the cap off and see if I can get a good pic of where the wires go. As far as parts go you can go through the Dewey supplier to get parts...I did that to find what I needed when I got mine....I was missing the oil pressure sensor and a few other small things....really helped at...
So where I am with Met-Ed power company Pa they don't allow that switch setup here unfortunately...I liked the setup, so the sparky that comes tomorrow is going to see how to do a new setup with a manual switch still...just gotta figure out which one to do.
That set up looks good! Seems very simple and it can be ordered with the 200 amp breaker in it as well....so the box that has the breaker in it now could be removed and replaced with this switch.
Thanks!
I'll look into that book too!! I have a copy of the local code now...I think I can use this generac smart box to shut power off from the line...kinda more than I'd want to spend...even though I want a manual open lever, flipping power during a storm outside is probably not fun...I'll see what...
Yes there is...right next to the meter...it's not what I wanted to do but it's probably the best option...I may look at doing the connection between the meter and house now as well...I prefer a manual disconnect though...one I know is completely open to the line power...so making this box work...
Well....after living in this house for 5 years and adding a few circuits myself you would think I would notice that I don't have a main shut off fuse buss!! I have no words for how I missed it...I even left 2 open spots at the bottom so I can move all the breakers down 2 so I would have space...
Thanks so much!! That makes perfect sense...I over think stuff...I know it's 2 legs but couldn't separate the 2 in one thing...ok off to find the book on how to do this correctly and get the permit...it takes forever for that but at least I can have a solid start!
Thanks again!
Rich
wow!!!! that's a ton of wiring!! My plan is to use a hard wire directly to the box with a breaker blocking device so I have to turn off grid power before the genset power fuse can be turned on...gotta do it safe for sure!! my questions that I need to find an answer to is if I run 240 to the box...
I've read that changing phase while running is bad...I think it says by the switch to turn it off to change what voltage and phase is output....yes I plan on using the 52 amp 240 volt setup...I think it will work best going into my box in the house...but not exactly sure...I'm assuming since the...
So I used my old 10$ tiny analog meter set to 150 volts and found 120 volts on leg 1 and 3! I have not loaded it yet but at least it is showing volts!!
I'm glad that my local electrical store had the fuse in stock because the gauge is showing 240 volts now...I want to produce the 52 amps at 240 volts so i think I have the switch at the correct place...I have a good volt meter but I have no idea how to hook it up so I can check volt output on...
Absolutely getting a new fuse!! I got lucky as a local company is a Busmann dealer and had them in stock!! I hope it works...thing I do question is the update showed the FNQ-R-3 as a 3 amp rating...I thought it was 30 amp?? I got the exact part number at 3 amps...so it might work or pop right...
