UPDATE:
While removing the radiator from the truck, I accidentally hit it up against the safety catch for the winch. I kind of created a leak! OOPs.
So I took it up to the local radiator shop. They fixed the leak and resoldered the shroud. They also flushed and repainted it too!
Not bad for...
WOW! Nice machine! Can't find anything like that around here. Everything sitting in an outside back lot is usually a pile of rust in the dirt.
Take good care of that piece of history!
Hi all,
While driving my Deuce around today, I noticed a strange metal to metal sound coming from the engine compartment.
I found both top and bottom of the sheet metal fan shroud separating from the radiator. The bottom of which was rubbing on the crankshaft and alternator pulleys.
Now I...
Entered a show last year with my Deuce. We had a really good time. It was funny, we got edged out of the running for first place in special interest by a kids pedal car! That's alright, didn't go there for any trophy anyways. It's the looks you get from the other car owners that I enjoy...
I had a front metal brake line let go on me. Fortunately I was still in the barn doing my pretrip inspection. Lots of spraying dot 5! Easy fix, took about an hour with bleeding the system.
Welcome from Ohio! In regards to your air leak, I would change the glad hand if it's leaking from there. If that doesn't work, get a spray bottle with soapy water, air up the system and spray the mixture on all the connections. Like finding a leak in a tire.
Good luck with your project
I would start with the connections going from the battery to the starter. Could be a little bit of corrosion on the connections at the starter. But if you're on here, you probably checked that already.
It also matters where you store or park the truck. If it sits outside all the time, the paint will weather and fade quicker than parked in a garage or barn.
Welcome from Ohio USA! Nice looking wrecker. It's always interesting to read the back stories on the vehicles that are highlighted on this sight! Enjoy that great piece of History.
