I used an A2 pto on my A0. That is the one in Fig.529, never seen one like Fig.530. I wonder if the 530 one is a T-case PTO. Anyone with a wrecker out there should be able to answer that. 86m1028 is right, the only real difference is the control box in the cab and the PTO driveshaft length. All...
On my A0 I had to undo the rear engine mounts and shift the eng/trans to the drivers side as far as it would go(about 2") to get the needed clearence to get the PTO to clear the studs on the trans and clear the frame. It is NOT an easy job by no means. I did use a Stock cable controlled unit...
There is a bi directional valve on the frame that is controlled by a cable from the in/out control. You would put a set of valves after that to tee into so the in/out control would operate the winch you choose. I would use mechanical valves there.
Oh yes, the axcess hole is a VERY helpful thing when installing the PTO drive unit on the trans of an A0/A1. The A2 is farther forward and has even more restrictive axcess for the PTO. The donor A2 I pulled mine from I had to remove the exhaust pipe from the turbo down to the next coupling to...
Best option for higher speeds? Buy a commercial OTR truck. Military stuff is NOT designed to run at current highway speeds. That is the reason when you see convoys they have lead/follow trucks with "CAUTION" signs.
Do you already have a winch on the front? If so just put a switching valve on the front winch lines to switch from front to rear then you just need a switch control and all the other controls, pump, and control valve will run the rear winch also. Then you just have to select between front or...
OK, I did the install of a winch on my M923A0. The system I had came from an M932A2. The control in the cab and the pto pump drive shaft is different from the A0/A1 to the A2. I was able trade the control and shaft with some one who was actually going the opposite way I was and you may be able...
As A wrecker operater I highly recommend disconnecting the driveshafts at the diffs. When the t-case is in neutral the internal pump will not operate which would burn t-case. Check front and rear diff fluids and check hub drives for proper lube. I would also stop in about 25 miles to check lug...
Was out there this morning and there are at least 100+ M939 series trucks and a butt load of HMMWVs sitting out there waiting for their turn. There is a lot of new equipment there too. I would love to have one of the Oshkosh PLS HEMMT A4s that are out there. There is all kinds of old and new...
You will need a Class A CDL in most states for either of those. Check with your DMV for licensing requirements in your state. The M1070 is 45k by itself and has a GCVW in the area of 250K, not sure on the M916 but I am sure it excedes 100k. What are your plans with one?
Wick246, I live in Roy, Ut and am buy the facility where all those trucks are often. They are stored by the Weber County Fair Grounds and I will be going out there this weekend for a gun show. I can asure you there are a lot of M939 series trucks stored there that will make their way through the...
