I got this gallon jug from oreilly today, looks like maybe the same stuff, but pre-mixed. I used it to install the runflats in 2 more tires, it's definitely slick and snotty and made things easier.
Yeah, I got what you were saying and agree completely that it's a good idea to carry something to cut back the tire. My carry comment was a digression also, but wasn't meant to be directed at you. Your comment just made me think of all those people carrying glocks in their waistbands having...
If you were the kind of fellow who likes to shove a glock down your pants without a holster, I'd probably recommend you keep the chamber clear (among other things). Understanding why anyone would carry like that in the first place, that's a whole other question, but I'd bet it is pretty common.
If radiator isn't hot and the engine is really 240, it's likely the thermostat or I guess it could be some major obstruction if you have junk in the cooling system. How are you determining that the engine is hitting 240? If using the gauge, that's likely not a real reading. My guage is off by...
It's still expensive, but macmotors has it for $45 per tube and says one per tire. I decided to skip the lube for the same reason you are stating - I don't plan to ride on the runflat any longer than needed. I also figured a tube of lube in the tire could make balancing an even bigger...
One of mine had a visible shimmy side to side (just the tire, the rim has no shimmy). I hope it's not a bad tire. It's a new tire, but I didn't buy them locally, so it will be a pain to return/exchange if it turns out to be a bad tire.
No on-road testing yet. I got 2 of them installed and won't get to the other ones until later this week. I did do a test run on jack stands with the tires spinnng and one of the 2 tires looks wonky when spinning. The wheel/rim runout looked good, just the tire appears to have a significant...
I'm putting new tires on my m1123 that I recently got from auction. I wanted original hmmwv rims and decided to swap to 24 bolt wheels as long as I was messing with it. I also decided to go with the original runflats, so I had to figure out how to deal with those. I know some folks do without...
Make sure you drain the tank before adding fuel. Diluting bad fuel doesn't get rid of the stuff that you don't want getting pulled into your system. Even after draining, I personally would not top it off if you aren't sure how much crap is in your tank. If you do have a bunch of crap in there...
From what I found, there are a few 6T flooded acid options -
$203 6TMFD from oreilly, weighs 52lbs

$214 "6TL" from oreilly...
ON the dash? The only holes I see on mine are on top, but I'm not really clear on how these mount.
I think some versions (998's?) have mounting holes in the front?
looks like maybe some brackets here that I need
After a bit of debate, I decided to go with the Hawker AGM batteries and I ordered them this week. $890 (including freight) + tax, so about 2x the cost of the Napa/Oreilley flooded acid options. They are made by the same company that manufacturers Odyssey AGM batteries and I've had really good...
How does the upper tray attach on a M1123 where there are no mounting holes on the face of the dash? Are there angle brackets from the top holes or do you drill new holes to mount it?
Is this the "bottom" tray (Part number 12340581)? I assume this bolts into the holes on top of a m1123 dash and it's tall enough for the feet to go into the 2 mounts on the tunnel? Does the top tray shown above bolt onto this?
I received my truck for yermo earlier this month and it had exactly 5 gallons of bright red off-road diesel in it. It smelled just like any other diesel and everything was really clean, so probably a different situation than what this truck is dealing with. I would recommend draining the tank...
I liked that 2nd one, going for the full roll. Any vehicle that goes on the lift gets the full push/pull/shake test before I even think about going under it. A couple jack screws go a long way. 4 of them pretty much eliminate any risk of lift failure. I like to think I'd never have the...
I thought about that, but certainly sucks some of the simplicity/convenience out of the lift and also puts 2 big bars across the bottom where you would otherwise have access. I'd probably go with 4 tall screw jacks for extra safety before going that route.
I have the Bendpak asymetric 10k...
I did use both spacers and probably don't need the shorter one. That said, I don't think the taller spacers change the dynamic much. My biggest concern is that the front and rear arms hit the frame fairly close together compared to a conventional "outboard" frame where you can push the arms...
