Looking good. Glad you got past you IP issues and on to some fun stuff. Looks like we are about at the same stage, I got my top on this week as well. I just did the rear jump seats instead of the buckets. When do you plan to tackle your tires? I've watched a few youtube videos and it looks...
I was able to put it on my lift today. I think part of my challenge is that I installed my lift in the "wide" configuration. You can also set it up in a narrower config where the posts are about 1ft closer to each other. The wide config gives clearance for wide vehicles to open doors a...
I'm still considering battery options and would like to check out the hawkers. Could you share what you've learned about getting them at the best price? Do you have a ballpark price on 2 shipped? I found their site online, but it looks like I need to call for a quote, but it sounds like you...
I think Dex3 was the latest greatest when many (most?) of these trucks were made, Dex6 didn't come out until 2006. I'll do some digging, a good test if I can find something in a TM that should be pretty simple.
Thanks, I'll try to find some of that and probably just use it in everything unless there is an advantage to using the dex6 stuff in the transmission. Do you know if Dex3 is the recommended fluid for the transfer case also?
So, Dex6 for transmission and 3 for the power steering? Dex3 for transfer case also or does it matter?
Are you able to find actual Dextron 3 ATF or using the delco stuff referenced above that has been rebranded as manual transmission fluid?
It seems that most of the ATF fluid I see...
Thanks. I found them at this site -

But I think I'm gonna ditch the deka's and go with the oreilly's or the napa 6tl's. After some light usaged and letting them settle a bit, it's appears that they are not well matched...
I just bought one of these onboard victron chargers. They have them in different amp ratings, I just got the 5a since it's mainly for maintnenace, runs about $100. I've had good luck with victron stuff in the past and I like the bluetooth capability. You can log into your phone and confirm...
I'm guessing that's highly dependent on what level you are going for (applies to both hookers and upgrades)....
+1 on the outstanding contributions make by forum members here. Reviewing this site was one of the things that took me "over the edge" when debating whether I wanted to get a hmmwv.
You are probably right because the weights are different (napa is heavier), but they sure look similar (at least the injection molded case). See pics below for comparison.
Thanks, This was my original plan and I still might go this route if I can't come up with a decent mounting solution for the deka's. These oreillys are running $202 right now, but out of stock at the moment. Looks like the exact same battery as the napa version, but about $40 cheaper.
Thanks. These look like a good solution that won't throw my OCD tendencies into a fit like cutting up some 2x4's or some other hack. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything like this. Do you know who makes/sells them?
Thanks. I just added them to my mac motors order. I guess my batteries aren't tall enough to allow the outboard j-hooks to work, is that right? I hate to hack something as critical as the battery mounting, but I like the idea of not spending $450 on a couple new batteries when the ones I have...
The folks at gov planet were nice enough to leave the main battery hold down bracket, but ditched all the hold down hardware. It looks like it probably takes a couple J hooks on the drivers side and I'm not sure what is needed on the passenger side (holes in compartment, but too high for j...
I am going through my recently recieved m1123. Doing normal fluids, filters, etc. This truck was refreshed in 2009 and it doesn't appear to have any use since then (32 miles on odometer). I got it from yermo, but I'd be surprised if it sat in the desert all that time. The seats and...
That's pretty much what I did. I plan to keep the original paint, may or may not try the diesel spray down. For the cleaning, I did find it really helpful to start with a hose rather than going straight to the pressure washer. I cleaned for most of the day saturday and sunday I think I've got...
Great work, congrats on getting it going. I don't know much about these pumps, but it's pretty amazing that the key is the weakest link. I know they are designed to shear, but that's still a bunch of force and I'm surprised there wasn't something else that would fail first.
Have fun with...
