If you have the extra money, there is a two part water borne CARC also. This is what the military currently uses. It is better environmentally and people that have used it say it is easier to use. It is more expensive and this is why I just got the old style solvent borne CARC. There was a...
I have decided to go with a new mat or just individual floor mats. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I did a little touch up this morning on the places I missed. Most of what I missed was due to not getting the gun at the right angle. I have to fabricate brackets for the rifle racks...
I used rattle cans for the primer. I am saving the good stuff for real paint. Carc is very forgiving since it comes out with a sandpaper finish anyway. The good stuff is going to be for my Mustang project. I used big box store sandable primer for the front floor area. I used Rustoleum rusty...
I am pretty lucky as the industrial store I get if from keeps a lot in stock. They probably supply TACOM in Warren Michigan. Lots of military manufacturing around this area.
And now the money shot. Put down some Sherwin Williams Carc. Reduced it 4:1 but next time I am going to try 5 o5 6 :1. I am glad I decided to just paint the whole interior instead of trying to blend it in. I still have to touch up a few spots. I also need to weld in new rifle rack bottoms and...
I have an account with the local store but the above document has a lot more info on surface prep and such. One thing. I am using the Urethane based stuff. Any urethane reducer works and my local paint shot has reducer cheaper than the Shermin Williams store. One item they let me in on. I had...
I am getting ready to shoot CARC in the interior of my M1009. I have Sherwin Williams CARC and it is the urethane based one part. It is not the new water borne but is the water cured. It is cured when exposed to moisture in the air. The real early stuff is two part and the waterborne is also two...
They are special wheels. A guy from Michigan has a setup. I don't know his name but every year for the last 3 years he has had the jeep with a small model at the Clare show and swap meet. He has a couple of rails that he set down and puts the jeep on them to demonstrate how it works. I am sure...
If it is Merdc then it is not carc. Most trucks painted with carc will have a stencil saying "carc" and a date. I have seen new parts put on that was carc painted but have never seen carc touch up. For instance, my deuce has a newer fender on the driver's side. It was painted with Carc in the...
I hate to differ but the power to turn over a high compression engine does not change. If a 24 volt starter is used for the engine then it will draw half the amps of a 12 volt starter. A 12 volt starter will still turn the same engine over and will require the same watts as the 24 volt starter...
The car companies are looking at kicking the batteries up to 36 or 48 volts because of the extreme electrical loads in new cars. I can't remember the exact volt value but the whole idea is so the electrical wires can be smaller and hence lightening the car.
To help people with understanding...
We had a BOL ( Be on the Lookout) for some guy that was stealing grease from a place in town. The estimate price in the theft report was about $2000-$3000. I think the suspect stopped as I have not heard anything else about it. I wonder if the renderer just called it theft and the officer did...
Last week I finished the welding and grinding. I then primed and put down the bondo. I got it sanded down and found all the spots I needed to fix when I out down the primer again. While waiting for stuff to dry I laid down black for the underside of the panels. I also started stripping the...
