This is just my educated opinion but I think you are looking at a parts truck. Unless your mission in life is to save a multi-fuel wrecker from the scrapper you will be putting far more money into this project than you will ever get out of it. I'd offer them less than scrap price for it and if...

If it spins and won't fire it is a fuel issue. The fuel shutoff solenoid is notorious for de-energizing. You may also have to crack the bleeder on the back of the pump (7/16th wrench) to get it to fire. Crack the bleeder, pump the primer till you hear a "squishy squishy" sound. Have...

Thinning the WMO down should help a lot.....I usually went 50/50.....if you get the WMO free that makes the cost of fuel half that of diesel fuel.

The only issue I see is that when you are backing the trailer up it will turn before you know it and you can jack knife it and bend the frame in a heartbeat.
This is especially true if you have a cargo cover on the truck and cannot see the trailer except with the mirrors.
A short...
:tigger:
Are you converting the cargo to a tractor or just shortening the wheelbase?
I have a M923A2 that I'm considering putting a 5th wheel on but I'm going to make it a long wheel base tractor rather than shortening the frame.
My intent is to remove the spare tire rack and put a shortened...
I spoke to an Alabama Forestry Commission worker today and to say they are unhappy with the situation is an understatement of epic scale.
In it's misguided effort to appease the forest service and fire departments from all states the EPA has made an exemption that will allow the trucks to be...
The above is fine for forestry, VFD's and other official agencies.
We still have municipalities (that draw the trucks for free, hold and sell them), surplus companies such as Memphis Equipment, and us lowly collectors.
I will be contacting the EPA again today and talking to their Public Affairs...

Those hoses look pretty buggered to me.
The last thing you want is to fill that big hydraulic tank full and blow a rotten hose and watch all that fluid pour out on the ground.
I estimated to replace all the hoses on the M816 would have cost me around 1200 bucks.
That vehicle has...

A deuce is tougher than woodpecker lips but you have to know it's limitations and learn to live with them.
Most of them are on the back side of 40 years old and they require a lot of work to stay in fighting trim.
Do a lot of research before you run alternative fuel since you can...

If it makes it to the rally it will either be driven by the Boss Lady as a chase truck or on the gooseneck behind the big red Dodge dually.
The Lake pipes are probably just a flight of fancy......the stock dual exhaust sounds good but is not too loud.
:tigger:
Well.....since the big truck pipeline has been halted (temporarily I hope) a man has to get his green iron fix where he can.
I have to admit I keep having ideas about what kind of mods I can do.
Right now I need to do an oil change and next month after my welfare check comes in I'll...
:tigger:
Funny you should say that. I still have several of the HUMVEE fording exhaust pipes that might just be the right size for a set of "Lake Pipes".

A few weeks ago a fellow SS member asked me to pick up a CUCV he had bought from GSA that was located close to my LZ.
My buddy and I took his CUCV, a towbar and slave cables and went to make the pick up.
When we got there the guy asked if we had brought any batteries which we hadn't...
