All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Thanks :) The updates that I just posted bring the project to its current state...I have more planned over the winter months, so I'll post more pics as the projects progresses. I didn't do any drawings for any of the projects on this rig...Since this is a cheap, just-for-fun project I'm...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

I decided that I should add a 2” receiver hitch to this rig as well; this way I can pull my dump trailers up in the woods for firewood without worrying about getting stuck (A common occurrence with my pickup truck). I wanted it at a height that didn’t require some stupid 24” drop hitch, so I...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

The noise…I’m sure that all of you who own a deuce understand this. The whole truck is noisy…EVERYTHING makes noise on this truck. But the biggest annoyance to me was the exhaust noise at highway speeds. After a little searching here on SS, I ordered a Walker Dynomax muffler from Amazon, part...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

My deuce came without a winch, so I made another call to 100Dollarman and had him send a complete winch setup my way; the winch bolted right up without any fitment issue, but I discovered that the final position of the bumper was just absurd. It was nearly a foot farther forward than it needed...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Electrical system...this seems to be a common issue with most deuce owners. I spent a few hours thinking about my options. Here is what I came up with: 1. Convert the entire deuce to 12v. This wasn't practical due to expense and difficulty. I would have had to change all of the electrical...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

I put my flatbed together; it is designed for hauling my wheeling rigs. It has integrated ramps for loading my rigs and multiple tie down rings. The ramps are about 10ft long and make it easy to load up a short wheelbase jeep or other off road rig. I won’t be getting any cars up there though...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

I planned on building a flatbed, but before I got started on that I wanted to put a set of 395's on the truck and then measure for clearance (so the tires don't hit the bed on full bump). So, I did a little research, made some calls, and ended up buying a set of goodyear MVT's from...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

I’ve been working on my deuce on and off now for several months. I thought it was time I posted some details and pics of my build. Rather than have a dozen different posts for each project on my deuce, I thought I would consolidate it all into this one build thread. I picked up this 1971 A2...

    another deuce with 395's

I'll post pics when I have them all on. I still have one original tire left to dismount, and 3 of the MVT's to mount. Working with the old split rims takes some time

    another deuce with 395's

Got my a few of my MVT's on my deuce this afternoon; the pics tell the story  Thanks 100dollarman! [thumbzup]

to those of you who have changed tires

Well, I only have a couple left to do. Got the technique down after the 3rd tire; it took me about 20 min for the last one. But I'll admit that the $25 per tire seemed pretty appealing after the first one I did.

to those of you who have changed tires

I got the first one off with pallet forks on my kubota tractor. Hopefully I have the procedure down a little better now for the rest of them...

to those of you who have changed tires

on stock split rims.... Mad props. You are truly a badass One hour and about 2000 calories, 1 tire removed. 6 more to go.

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

I don't know about HALF the job... But the thought had crossed my mind. After spending a couple of days looking at it, I've decided that I really like the look when the rears are singled up on a set of 46's. That's the route I think I will go... Ordered the materials I need to build a flatbed...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

? Last week, before I bought it, I got copies of the paperwork the seller had and called the DMV office. They told me that I had everything necessary to get a title/registration, and that was confirmed this morning when I took the truck to the DMV. I bought it with just the SF-97 and the GL...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

Well, I bought it. I actually bid on a deuce on GL up in Ft. Lewis, but it ended up selling for $4000. That price convinced me that I should be willing to spend $2k-$2500 for this rig, even without the bed. I managed to talk the guy down to $1700. I didn't get the bed, but he still had the...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

The owner has the bed...he has plywood sides on it and it is full of firewood. He is asking an additional $500 for it... I have a pretty well outfitted shop and I don't mind wrenching on a project... But, it sounds like everybody agrees that 3k is too much for a somewhat incomplete rig. I...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

I have never purchased a vehicle from a government entity (just some tractors and a diesel generator). When one buys a vehicle that needs to be titled from a site like GL, I would assume that no title comes with the vehicle...there must be a standard gov't form that goes with the vehicle that...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

Well, that makes 2 of us...but before I went to take a look at it I figured I would do some due diligence and ask the pros  The appealing thing was the close proximity to my shop. Saving $1500 doesn't mean much if I have to take a 1000 mile roundtrip to get it. But, if the consensus...

Going to look at a Deuce tomorrow

I'm planning on going to take a look at a Deuce tomorrow; thought I would post some pics of it up here and get your guys' opinion on what it is worth, things to look out for, etc. It is a 1971 model; the owner claims it has a little over 16k original miles and runs/drives perfect, no leaks...
