thanks all. ordered the nuts and retainer from Erik's and will be picking up a set of bearings from NAPA. Hope to get it back on the road by the end of next week.
last stupid question, I promise. The TM picture is very difficult to make out and I've never done this before and don't want to have to wait twice as long because I didn't order all the parts the first time.
Is there only one of those retainer washers or two?
thanks for all the help.
I am in the midst of repairing a catastrophic failure of my front drivers side wheel bearing in which all moving parts were destroyed. I sourced the part numbers for the bearings and races, but I need to source the two large nuts and spacer/washers that held it together. I had to cut mine in...
Its full of baked grease from it riding on the brake shoe for a few hundred feet. There is some dust and dirt mixed in there I'm sure. I have owned it since February and do know that when I took possession of the truck the bearings, brakes and seals were inspected and serviced as needed. All of...
Got it private sale from a man who buys them from GL and services them before selling. It was on the highway at about 50mph when I discovered things were going south with the front axle and brakes. The truck is well maintained, failures happen.
Thank you.
They are going to be cooked on there. The wheel was smoking when I got stopped, all the grease in there is baked on.
Nothing a cutoff wheel and air hammer can't get free.
I have no problem buying new bearings for the truck but I need to figure out what held it all together. Whatever that was is destroyed and allowed the tire to come off. Normally (on light trucks like I'm used to working on) theres a large castle nut with a lock pin through the center of the...
Ok got it home. As soon as the tow truck had the front tire off the ground it promptly fell off. Good news is the brake itself, brake line and axle shafts are all a-ok. The bearings grenaded and somehow in the process took out whatever locking device the brake drum uses to secure itself...
The brake is still attached to the axle and the line seems unharmed. The drum (contact point for the shoes, rotates with the tire) is whats coming off.
Hmm. Are there retainer clips on the axle shaft at the gear housing? I am quite certain that when I take the tire off the axle shaft is going to come out with it. I hope it didn't wreck things at the gears.
Where is the cheapest source of axle seals, wheel bearings and seals?
I was driving it to pick up a few thousand pounds of rocks when I noticed a "jerk" in the steering wheel that was not because I hit a pot hole. I shrugged it off and suddenly it became violent and I went for the brakes to slow down and get it under control when I realized I had no brakes and the...
singles will absolutely do better in sand. let them down to 10-20psi for best results. the M35 will do better in sand for no other reason than it weighs less, but both the 2.5 and 5t trucks are heavy enough to sink themselves pretty quickly. tire spin is not your friend.
There is a fuel bleed knob on the top of the fuel filter housing. Turn the accessory lever to on position and open the knob until fuel comes out. Close the screw. As for the batteries if you have room you can pull start the truck. If that doesn't work I'd take the batteries out and charge them...
I have been wanting to haul my Arctic Cat 4wheeler in the bed of my deuce since I got it but considering my truck is even taller than factory specs I would need a ramp nearly as long as the bed to get it in there.
No. It took longer than I expected for fuel (I'm running WMO) to come out of the bleeder. It did not "fountain" out of it but it did come up and it had good volume. Made a puddle about 6-8" across in the time it took me to drop off the fender and run in the cab to hit the off switch
Rats. I'll play with it more tomorrow.
What is the large hex bolt ontop of the primary fuel filters size? I didn't have a wrench larger than 7/8s handy and it wasn't big enough. I had to wrestle some channel-locks on it to remove it, but I'd like to own the proper sized wrench for next time...
yep. it was about half the height with a spacer setup in the bottom for water separation. it did not have a metal screen over the exterior of the filter.
I'm replacing the fuel filters on my truck and I bought the NAPA #3512 for the two large secondaries per this forums advice. They look just like this

They're a good match for dimensions but they have the big sheetmetal screen on the...
