I'll have to flip the driveshaft around end to end for any yoke weldment on the trans side of the shaft to work. Just puts the slip spline on the transfer case side. Anybody see any difficulty in installing and using the driveshaft "backwards" like that? I would think which end the slip...
I think you mean 1810 style U joint. Eaton/Fuller doesn't offer any yokes with an "1850" joint.
Interesting. Maybe. I have to use my stock slip jointed shaft, but I could use a section of your tube with the yoke on one end to be welded to mine and extend it 2" at the simultaneously, and...
I called the truck driveshaft shaft shop which is local to me, from Japan, as I couldn't wait any longer. They said less then or about $200 to lengthen it 2", $80 for a tube piece and $120 for labor (2 cut, 2 welds, balancing). Will do some measurements when I get home to see if any of my...
g, I'm leaving this morning, come take my spot.
I'd trade you three 12v starters, shipped, for it? One of each different clocking configuration, with 11 tooth pinions on them. ;)
You know, I do still have the front prop shaft I removed for a worn spline slip joint. That has the flat companion flange and good U joints still on each end that you are talking about....hmmmm.....look at that, I may just end up doing as you said anyway. See if I can pry a used T-case output...
ISL and 13 speed road runner will run smooth as a Cadillac, zero vibration. You'll be able to balance a glass of wine on the valve cover @ 70mph. Cruise up, we'll take it to Yacht Club for lunch.
This is why I play here, look at all these friendly people!
Let me check what the driveshaft shop says. I don't exactly have to have U-joints in stock at every Love's truck stop. There is benefit for that for Simp who drives 6,000 miles a week. I did 10,000 miles in 4-5 years, so even a...
Nobody is calling you out, don't get soft on us. Most should know by now I respect sarcasm, highly. Few like it, a lot don't, we're all different but here for the same thing. Dad killed lots in Vietnam, and I'm 23 miles from Detroit, where the weak are killed and eaten. So, bring what you...
It's a possibility, but that is changing all 4 ends and both U joints, may play out as much more expensive path than just a single adapter type U joint. Hold tight, will do cost comparison at local driveshaft shop once back from Japan this week.
Everybody here is smarter than me. That is probably about what I'll be calling it when it is Sunday night, I am trying to bolt it together to get my truck out of the bay at my work by Monday am, and it won't line up.....
Still learning. Looks like there are adapter type U joints available to transition from one yoke type to another. I am investigating to use one of these, even if more expensive, rather than change either yoke, as it may still be cheaper. I will still have to lengthen the driveshaft from trans...
Cute. Cummins ECM's can accept either a dual voltage sweep sensor, or a single sensor with an idle verification switch. Either is a safety measure to confirm pedal increase is requested. The external relay will act as the idle verification switch, and can be driven from either working...
While sitting bored in meetings at work today, I came up with a way to use the electronic accel pedal I acquired anyway, even though it tested as having one bad output circuit. I can use an external relay to simulate the IVS (Idle Verification Switch) that should regularly have a set of...
Cool. Nice job, thanks for the additional pics. Those alts are genuine Delco, the Chinese ones do not say "Delco Remy" on them, but the originals do have that cast into the back frame cover of them.
I like the size of the charge air cooler, but looks like it may not be the Volvo one? So, is...
Helpful info, thanks.
I'd wire the relay power to an ignition switched source, for 2 reasons:
1. In case the switch or relay ever stick on, the reverse lights/alarm won't be stuck on with the vehicle off. Rare scenario, but anything can happen.
2. Some people leave their shifter in a gear...
Yep. I would not go changing anything there besides the fuel as you said it seemed strange and you are exposed to diesel fuel regularly otherwise, just top them off and be on your way. 3 diffs, transfer case, trans, coolant, engine oil, steering fluid.
Alts Chinese clones (corrected, they are not Chinese), which do work OK and very economical. A genuine 70 amp Delco 21Si prices at just over $500 each MSRP. Chinese clones are about $120ea. I have had several genuine Delco failures, and would almost recommend the Chinese one instead...
