Time for everyone's favorite game: identify this leak!

A better picture would help. Suspect the seals on the hub though, since there is little else in that area. Not that hard to replace and worth opening them up to inspect if you never have. I did before I took my new-to-me M998 anywhere and am glad I did. Bulldogger

How to keep your humvees safe

15 HMMWVs...either I'm covered in overspray or I'm green with ENVY!! Heck I'd be tickled to have that much CHAIN :-) Bulldogger

    Overheating 6.5L M998?

Is it displaying signs of overheating or just the temp gauge showing that? Gauges lie. I don't have a 6.2L so can't offer more on the sensors that engine uses, since I'm not sure they're the same. If you haven't replaced the thermostat and flushed and filled the coolant, that's a great thing...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Yuck! Definitely need some further attention. A thread file should touch them up well enough. Perhaps some dielectric grease on them after? BDGR

M 931A2 no START after vacation , will have you in stitches

Glad it wasn't worse and you still have the friend. It's nice of him to pay for the cutout, that he doesn't get to see where it's installed (HINT) :-) Bulldogger

4th of July HMMWV Plans Anyone?

Will probably tool around town in the M998 a bit just because I can, but I have a full day of housework and maintenance planned too. My traditional 4th practice is to ride my antique Harley around town to get a cheeseburger. I haven't gotten the HMMWV completely folded into the routine yet :-)...

    New M998 Ignition problems/batteries/lights

Absolutely not! The standard military issue battery is a deep cycle battery. Bulldogger

    Dead in the water

Just because the positive and negative terminals are solidly bolted on in the battery compartment doesn't mean they are solidly bolted on the OTHER SIDE of the big post. It has its own threaded side and nuts to check. I second putting in a secondary grounding harness. Can get wire at home...

    Swapping engine from different vehicles

A quick Google check says that they should both be 6.2l's, so shouldn't be too hard. I have seen multiple references that say stepping up from the 6.2L to the 6.5L involves having to get a new wiring harness (several hundred $, apparently). Doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it myself...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I actually had to resize and print mine twice, so third time was the charm, but the price of all three attempts is on the order of $0.50 total. Similar to your situation Wire Fox, the second one almost fit, but I knew I'd never get it back off if I pushed it on hard. Mine has no lanyard, but...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I have had a converter sitting around for a while not happy with my thoughts on where to mount it. I have a first aid kit in this spot at the moment, but it can be relocated. This gives me some ideas. Thanks! BDGR

We have a winner! I like the Vomitron answer though too. And, no Jeffy777, not trying to make you look bad. Bulldogger

Some 3D Printing I designed and printed this for my HMMWV to replace a lost item that she came without. Can anyone tell me what it is? Bulldogger

    Vibration in driveline

It could be a lot of things without more information. But I would check to see if one of your hubs maybe loose. Jack her up at each tire and see if there is any play. At the same time you can rotate the tire and see if there is too much play in the jack shaft. Bulldogger

No awards. I thought we might have a chance with the popular vote. All the kids in attendance had a blast though. We were like a jungle gym. Bulldogger

    Spindle Locking Nuts?

Mine has the geared tab washers and seems fine, but now you've got me worried. Has anyone had these fail? Reusing the washers asks for trouble, but as long as they engage well, as an engineer I still feel safe enough. It's all managed risk at 60mph with 3 tons... The locking nuts are an...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I pulled the voltage regulator off today. Everything was heavily covered with carbon from the brushes but the alternator brushes were at least at 50% so I wasn't worried about needing to replace one. I sprayed all of the internals in the regulator cavity with Lectramotive. Once everything was...
