On the left rear inside of the lifting shackle which gives just enough space left to miss the pintle hitch (I like to run w/ mine turned sideways unless in use). Had to drill my own holes in mount and of course in the frame, but it has worked well and keeps the plate out of the way.

It may be a little while before I can report on that, since my almost immediate failure in the engine bay occurred on the LEFT side... I suppose it will be in the way for some stuff, yes, but it's not that hard to remove the three bolts, so if it's more than a half hour job one could pull it...
Installed front fender jack storage. Had to replace the latches. Also installed new LED license plate holder from TMG. Old one burnt out, and they gave me a hefty discount on the replacement.
Then the voltage regulator gave up and I couldn't drive it!
Ah well, one more thing to do then...
Not mentioned is that the HMMWV fan deactivation trick only works with later models, according to what I've read in the TM and what I've experienced. My M998 a0 doesn't deactivate on command, so SOP is to enter anything deeper than 20" slowly.

Hey Cabell, might could someone give the gun range a bush hog haircut before the Rally this year? Last year's, though I appreciated the opportunity don't get me wrong, was some tough bush to walk through and set up targets at known distances. Lost a fair amount of brass too (I reload my...
Nope, HMMWV. Bulldog is Betsy. She will come if weather permits. Might have been a little too warm last year. I've a bigger tent this year to allow more room, and might borrow an awning to put over her X-Pen during the day, if she comes. The big problem will be where to house her at night...
Found that my clean and repair of the battery connections didn't solve the overcharging. Measured voltage manually with a test meter and found 30.5 V pegging after the afterglow cycle was finished.
Dug into the TM and followed the instructions to adjust the voltage regulator. Worked a treat...
Looks odd, hard to say. My guess is that it's gunk of all sorts that collected during driving in wet weather. I second pulling up the black pads inside the engine compartment and taking a look around. Might just need a good scrubbing under the insulation.

Simple job got harder
Was checking my battery connections due to some odd behavior of my alternator gauge during cold statup. It would cycle between yellow, red and green during the after glow. It would even push hard past the red to the right on the dial, which concerned me! It only...
Welcome to the site and to the Green Disease. Replacement joints aren't usually too hard to find. Removal and installation is pretty straightforward. The TM's are here on the site. Recommend download and review, if you haven't already.

I've been tracking prices since I got bit by the Green Bug just over a year ago when I bought my HMMWV. A Deuce is also on my list. The $2K-6K is spot-on. I've passed up running but poorly maintained Deuces at the $2k mark (reluctantly...).
Remove and inspect the temp sensor as noted, and inspect and test all wiring connections. At the same time, verify proper electrical connections using the schematic, i.e. make sure the temp sensor circuit is properly wired. Remove, disassemble, clean, reassemble and reinstall Cadillac valve...
I've found a carefully wrapped door in a box the same dimensions, handle removed, can ship for about $35 if I recall correctly.
I paid about $100-120 delivered for my doors, not having found four useable ones form one vendor. Since you only need the frames, I'd think you could hold out for...
I got mine by watching eBay over a few months. They do come up, and in varying states of repair, often priced accordingly. It's a waiting game. You can save a search and have it notify you when a listing comes up that meets your search terms. It worked for me.

I also used Mcguires with excellent results. If your windows aren't cracked or broken, I'd give it a try. If the zippers are torn out, but intact, they can be restitched with a glovers needle, outdoor thread and some patience. I did mine. Many would have thrown away my doors, but they look...
Glad that there was only damage to vehicles and not son. Lucky to make it home on those brakes!
Looks repairable, and now we're all going to crawl under our HMMWVs and check our started bolts now.
Oh, and I would think he'd know by 19 but you might tell your son "Fishing" is where you sit on...
