By the way, these paints DO protect and seal the metal against rust. I've found absolutely no difference between these house paints and the traditional alkyd enamels in the way of rust prevention. So for those small bare metal areas that will be hit with these paints, do not worry about rust...
I suggest you pickup TM 9-8024 off of Ebay if you haven't already. It's a simple brake system once you spent a little time on it. It is a single circuit system, unfortunately. So make sure your steel and rubber hydraulic lines are in tip top shape. Total of 12 wheel cylinders as well that must...
Well I am glad I decided to remove the front pump and replace the seals. 40 year old rubber is crunchy! I found a lot of sludge build up in the pump fluid passages. Upon cleaning it down I also found the front pump bushing that the TC rides on was missing chunks of metal. No damage to the torque...
Thank you for the reassurance everyone. And I know I won't be having any reliability issues with the Th400. You gotta love gears.
Boy when you ask a question you sure get an answer. There should be a "thank everyone" button. I apologize for posting this GMC related question in the M35...
Thank you for the replies everyone. I ask this because I was wondering how much weight my GMC will be able to carry with no low range. You loose low range in these trucks when you loose the original Hydramatic, it's a common thing. It's no big deal, really. It's going to be an asphalt queen for...
How often do you guys find your using low range on the road? Loaded or unloaded. Say you have 5000lbs in the bed and your on level ground, is low range usually necessary to get moving? Just an example, of course.
I was going to put the same thing on my GMC. I was torn between putting political stuff on it to show people what side of the fence i'm on, then I realized that nobody cares. So I was going to settle on the "feel free to stand in front of them" sticker too.
Seeing as how everybody was using Rapco I went with Aervoe on my M211. They have all worked really well, i just shake them 3 minutes a piece and if I am working on a large piece like a hood, then I shake 2 at a time. I was told Aervoe solved the fading to pink issue, time will tell but it's held...
No, it's not an early deuce. But great work nonetheless, glad you posted it. :D I want to own an M43 someday being a MASH freak. I'll bet it's a lot of work tearing out the internals. People think it's just a sheetmetal box with nuts and bolts. Lots more to them that that.
That is your trucks REGISTRATION number, it stays with the vehicle throughout it's entire service life. It is not to be confused with the VIN number which is stamped onto the frame. Have you posted your trucks information in Carnac's VIN thread...
My new 60 gallon tank. :D When I have time I'll be cutting off the legs and moving my brackets down. I'll be reforming the old tank straps to fit the new round tank. It already has a half dozen fittings for stuff. This will be my fuel cap. Amazon.com: Vibrant 2.75" OD Mild Steel Weld Bung w/...
The only upgrade i'll be making to this engine later is a main girdle for the bottom end. At $175 it's cheap insurance against web cracks and I hear they work well. Although lots of people do it, I don't like the idea of a turbo on a stock 6.2. The 22:1 compression ratio is only increasing the...
Just a little update. Still making progress! Thanks to Hippiedude for the new toolbox. I got it installed and my running board back on finally!
It appears the stock motor mount brackets for the 302 that are riveted to the frame, are setup for biscuit style mounts. They already have a large 1...
