Yes, you are right, I did go in the air horn thru the big rubber intake hose and while it is off I am thinking to replace the air cleaner canister with the new one I got that has that rubber boot/ vent at the bottom.
I typed those thoughts in real time and was frustrated about the dirt that got...
In preparation for installing the new incoming CDR valve, I was checking the hoses and noticed that the one connected to the air horn had some movement.
It eventually came out relatively easily and even as I washed the engine multiple times before to remove the huge amounts of sand and caked...
Just a quick update, I ordered the fording kit parts above, the Balancemasters and will DIY the remaining tires, 3 plus spare as I also got a Rhino spare tire carrier, which will install soon, after getting all the vent system correctly so no dirt or water could get in like many of you...
I found a better diagram that I think it shows that indeed the two disconnected tubes (one is 62" - to the air cleaner - and the other one that comes from down below close to the geared fan is about 68" inches long - it seems that should be shorter in the drawing but it is routed the long way...
I have those two vent lines not connected together (one coming from the air cleaner and the other from the truck vent system) and in the manual diagram it shows them joined, would you know what that box in the drawing is (with the red question mark)? Is it just a barb union? It seems it is...
How about the Balance Masters? Any feedback about those as I am looking into getting some? The warranty seems better too, Lifetime vs 5 years on Centramatics.
Then the BalanceMaster HUM206R sound like a better solution as they can balance up to 30oz. It cost a little more (450 vs 300) but it’s a better fit. I will look into those, have you heard anything not good about them on a HMMWV?
I received the answer back from Centramatic saying that there is no need to pre-balance H1s, they have 12 ounces built in. If the tires require more than 12 ounces, then it would need to be pre-balanced. How much weight did they use on your tires or on the average?
I checked and the fuel vent it is going to the metal tube, going all the way up in the stack, and the plastic tube next to it (you may have to zoom in the picture as it may appear to be only the black plastic tube, but there is a second metallic tube, same tan color as the breather and it is...
I took that screenshot from the bottom of the H1 page, it would be very misleading if it’s not accurate:
https://www.centramatic.com/wheel-balancer.rhtml?modelNumber=370-800
I will double check with them and let you know.
Their web site says there is no pre-balancing required:
I will call them to double check.
Yes, I think there is another tube the connects to the fuel tank vent behind the cooling tank and I think that’s the other metal tube that’s going inside the stack at the top (it’s painted the same tan...
Here is how the steering pump plastic vent line is running right to the top of the breather, and I don't believe it is something done as part of the demil, it seems it has been like that as it is painted in and they would not bother to add the brackets and route it nicely like that, I think...
That's why I like to do it myself, I am just like that too, I watch closely and get in there if they are doing something I don't like, but this place I found they immediately recognized the tires (I have them in my daily driver truck bed) and they said they are two piece H1 type, which they are...
Yes, the CDR bypass hose seems installed pretty tight, I couldn't push it or move it further. OK, I was was thinking to rebuild the fording system and now that you mention it, I will. There is at least one deviation on my truck from the tubing diagrams in the manual, where the steering pump...
Hahaha, I totally understand what you mean about taking all day and the breaks, I break for a cold beer just to recover :) Yes, I agree about the DYI and besides enjoying to do it myself, I feel there are so many details involved, like cleaning the o-ring groove, getting the O-ring installed...
Hi, the new CDR valve it is arriving on Monday and I have an appointment to install new tires this Saturday (I did one myself and the biggest deal was breaking the bead to remove the wheel), what is the downside of driving without a CDR valve (I have no blow-by as it stands) a few times? Maybe...
I would not dispute that as I don't have any direct experience with those batteries. Usually I try to quantify the situation by testing it, in the case of batteries, I would run some charge/ discharge cycles and see how well they perform. I just got a HMMWV and I can tell that the charging...
If they are real Chinese parts then it should say on it. It should say Made in China and have a factory/ brand so you know what you are buying, but they don't so they can sell it for more than it is worth and pretend to be better quality parts than they are. I was not born in US and everywhere...
