    Shocks for my m1009

I do not, but I have seen them set up on the older Blazer/Chevy Pickup trucks, so I know they can be used. The dampening they provide off-road is very nice and consistent over a longer period of time.

    Laundry list for the m1009

Block that whole thing off when temps get down below freezing. There will still be enough airflow to keep her cool. I use pipe insulation foam across the entire front end grill. Works well. I have used Diesel Purge in my VW Golf during fuel filter changes, it works great. I use Howes every...

    Shocks for my m1009

LOL ! If I was building an expedition type M1009, I'd go FOX with the remote reservoir. Drove an F250 in the desert equipped with them and they really do make a nice set up.

    Shocks for my m1009

    M1009 not holding fuel prime

What Mainsail said. I had the exact same issue and found a bad fitting (leaking air). Once fixed, she fired right up. I then had issues starting when it got cold out. Replaced my glow plugs and once again, she is going strong.

M1028 Tire Pressure with BFG AT KO2

I run 40 psi front and rear with my 09, and also with my everyday sedans. I have never had any abnormal tire wear issues and get max life out of my tires. Regular tire rotation (I do every oil change for my 2 sedans, once a year for my 09) really helps keep things even. Low tire pressure...

How many Newtonmeter got the 1986 m1009?

The TM's and the actual GM engine manual all list the 6.2L J code HP as 135. The decal you have on your air cleaner housing is interesting. I am wondering, since it looks like a replacement decal, if it isn't one from a turbo'd 6.2 of the same vintage or someone made a mistake (a typo if you...

How many Newtonmeter got the 1986 m1009?

The GM Diesel Engine manual lists the HP as 130, the TM lists it as 135 for the J code CUCV. Where is the spec that states it is 155hp? Could that be for a civilian turbo charged motor? I would love to have 155 under my hood.

factory tach install will it work?

If anyone has a spare one of those tach units laying around, I would be interested. This looks like a very clean mod to a stock truck. OP, It looks like you have done other mods to your truck, but in a stock 09, after one installed the tach, would all the other gauges/warning lights work as...

Thanks Rick. LOL !! You did a great job when you restored her !!

    Heater Blower Motor

OK, worked on this today. Disconnected both batteries and pulled the rear one to make some room. Removed the plug for the resistor and discovered that is was cracked and one of the terminals came loose (problem #1). I then pulled the plug of the blower motor and discovered the broken wire on...

    Front winch setups

I like this set-up for it's clean looking installation, but it you are stuck in the mud, nose down, access would be limited without a lot of digging. Plus, that directional handle looks too exposed to me. I like it, but I am still looking at alternatives. Someone could probably make a nice...

    Heater Blower Motor

I like my truck, but I also like heat when it is 20 degrees out. As long as I am in there, might as well get it right. It's less than $75 to swap out the motor/cage, resistor bank and the connectors to that bank and motor (found mine was broken). I am going to replace it all and also cut out...

    Heater Blower Motor

My heater blower died and I am going to replace it, but I have a question before I pull the trigger. Has anyone upgraded their old blower motor to a more powerful unit? Is there such a thing? And if there is, did it require a lot of reconfiguring of the housing or anything else?

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Thanks Rick, back at ya ! I'm doing ok, can't complain, considering. I am not a fan of the cold when it goes into the 20's or below, but that is what a propane heater and rubber mats are for....us old guys !! My 09 is doing real nice. She now fires up within a second of turning the key...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Rick, put a heater in that garage and keep your old butt warm. No sense in draining yourself in the cold !! Nice work on that 09 !!

    Dually Conversion (For looks)

Ken, I checked the DIY 4x4 site (thanks guys) and this is what they say: These are constructed entirely from 1/4" thick steel. Designed to preserve approach angle as much as possible. TRIMMING on the front valance and grill is REQUIRED!! These are intended for offroading where a good approach...

    Dually Conversion (For looks)

That is a sweet looking truck and conversion. Did you do fabricate the winch set up as well? Very interested in that for my 09.

Another Glow Plug - Starting Issue Thread

Moehos, Yes, I'll run Diesel Clean winter blend for the next few months. As for cold starting, this is my second M1009 and, when running properly, I have not had any starting issues. Now, when the temps get down to 20 or below, she doesn't fire up like a gas engine. It will take a few...
