Boy sure enjoy following this thread, don't understand a dang thing you guys are saying. Just hoping you solve the "5 flashing lights" gremlin for us lessor poor souls!
71DeuceAK, I live right off the Del Rio/101 interchange in Atascadero. Delta Junction was just a tiny village when I was up there in 71-72. I was what the Army deemed a commercial truck driver (64C30 - MOS) operating commercial rigs painted the gloss OD green, mostly International 10-ton...
Welcome 71DeuceAK. I live in Atascadero and was stationed at Ft. Wainwright, AK 1971-72. I have 5 M939 variations and 12 different MV trailers. A-town is likely changed since you were last here, come on home!
The reason guys use the HEMMET wheels on a M800/M939 5-ton with 16R20 tires is the back spacing on the front axle. With the HEMMT wheels the back spacing will keep you from bumping the idler arm and they track nicely up front, looks mean as heck too. The combat wheels will interfere with the...
Ditto on the 16R20's for a wrecker. I can squat the 14R20's lifting from the side on the #3 axle pretty easily. We all cheat not using the downriggers from time to time, you would be spending all your time "spinning" down the downriggers with the 16's. Going down the road the wrecker is the most...

Specs are on the wrecker turret control panel data plates. If your missing your data plates, PM me your email and I'll send you a clear photo of them.
I bought a NOS light bar and a fresh newly made connecting cable from member Joehamilton . Joe has a source to buy the proper plugs. I had a custom length 8 ft. Cable made up to run on the rear of my wrecker for the auxiliary lights.
I'm a retired SLO LEO, actually live in Atascadero. I'm back and forth to Bako a couple times a month for a consulting job. Wow your covering a huge area! Thanks for the offer, it might just come in handy now and then. I'll shoot you a PM with contact info.
As above like frioman, I bought the adapter from Scar59. I Bought a large Lyle 7.5 gallon plastic drain pan that has a large "duckbill" splash tray/parts washer extension. I drove my M936A1 wrecker for 1/2 hour to bring everything up to operating temp prior. Once you remove the oil drain plug...
I had the same issue with my wrecker this past spring following a cold for us winter. My IP ingested that varnish stuff and the engine sounded like it was losing a rod bearing from the diesel "clacking". I was lucky, I was able to clean the passenger tank by draining and reaching into the tank...
