I had same problem on my trucks, rubber strap wrench would not break them loose , bought a chain wrench and ooohla came right off. Can't find any NOS units, looking to send them out and get them re-plated.

One of M923's had a badly rusted floor. I wire wheeled the heavy stuff and then used the POR-15 system. They have their own rust conversion liquid. It converts rust and binds it to the metal. You then use the POR-15 paint to seal it. You can beat the finished surface with a hammer w/o damage...

There is an internal filter on the VS wrecker pumps. M35A2-AZ solved that snafu for us wrecker owners. The pump has to come off to R&R the internal filter. PM M35A2-AZ, he's got the pics for filter location
