    Rear Level Wind Servicing Tips

I'll grap some pics today. It keeps the rear of my wrecker an oily dripping mess. Why would the roller be filled as opposed to just lubing the end support bearing caps? If filled, I would imagine it easily would take 6-8 tubes of grease.

    Rear Level Wind Servicing Tips

Nice tutorial brother. Question, my fairlead roller (M936A1) seems to be draining gear lube on both ends of the roller. There appears to be a hex plug up on top for filling the roller reservoir. It just just doesn't make sense that the roller would be filled with gear lube. What can you advise?

    WRECKER AIR VALVE 936a2

I have a M936A1, the throttle kick up is part of the PT pump. When you engage the PTO for crane operations it auto advances the throttle to 1500-1600 RPM. Once engaged you pull the hand throttle all the way out and lock it.

    rivet removal

Yup, cuz the they are Huck steel cored rivets! Punch out center first, drill out incrementally to 3/16", the back side will spin so careful you don't erode the underlining aluminum skin. Still a pita no matter how you you do it....

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

But a fluid test kit at NAPA for oil analysis, about $12 bucks. You'll then know exactly if your transmission is coming apart or it a servo, etc.

    M936 Overheating

Take a infrared heat gun with you to shoot accurate temps. I always have one in my trucks to check heat status on the engine and various running gear, hubs, tires, etc.
