We made it back OK. Other than being beaten unmercifully by the buggered up Kentucky stretch of I-65. We had some leakage on both trucks but nothing we couldn't overcome. This was the first time I have driven the Freightliner cabbed M915 and it's a definite improvement over the others but still...
I'm in Indiana tonight (4/15/2014) getting ready to recover two M915A3's for a customer of mine. He set up his own account and now I assist him with recovering stuff he bought.
In case you haven't noticed winter is having it's last hurrah and it's supposed to be below freezing here at Camp...
I'm parting out a deuce as we speak, the truck is stripped but the whole air pack is there. It's yours for 20 bucks and the cost of shipping if you can't find one closer. Prob have to go FEDEX. PM for info.
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank. You will prob have to use a cheater pipe to get it to break loose. I think a 1/2 inch ratchet will fit up in the plug. Make sure you have a large enough container to catch the fuel in the tank. When I cleaned the fuel tanks on the M936 I drained...
My buddy got his paid invoice for two M915A3's he bought last week at Camp Atterbury.
Is there anyone on the ground there that can assist with getting them on the transport truck?.
Is there a full time GL guy there or does he come up from Indy or some other larger base?
In the GL description...
Devilman (haven't seen him on in a while) had a very pimped out deuce that may have had electric door locks. It had just about everything else. Someone may have a thread about that truck in their archives.
Add this to the mix. The government buys tires in quantity based on the lowest bidder for a certain contract. The tires are then warehoused and sent out through the distribution system. If you order a 1400x20 tire you are going to get what they have in stock regardless of what you want or need...
The "Nifty 250" is built to pull, not to run fast. Turning the fuel to it will cause it to build heat fast and heat (past a certain point) is not your friend.
You also have to remember that the speed is also governed by gearing in the transmission and rear ends.
An Allison out of a M915A2...
When I owned my M816 (it had a Farm Tag on it) and called about insurance with Progressive I was told they would insure it as a "Boom Truck" only and that if I towed anything other than a pintle hitch trailer with it they would not pay a claim even if I was towing my own toys. If you are going...
Having run all kinds of crap through a multi-fuel I would suggest cutting the WMO 50/50 with diesel and a little gasoline to thin it out. The money you save on fuel will come in handy when you have to change out the injection pump or replace the engine.
The idea behind the multi was that on the...
Ron, I prob won't bring the M927 since the fuel bill would strap me this month......lot of month....too little money.
If I can pimp some parts off I'll bring it.
Here is a list of what I have:
Regular deuce bed, no tailgate, decent shape. $300.00
Dropside deuce bed. Lots of surface rust but...
Well....I just spent a long portion of the rest of my life reading through this thread.
I may bring the M927 but won't be dragging the circus wagon due to (1) difficulty in maneuvering it in the suburbs (2) all the drooling morons that inhabit the metro Hotlanta area and couldn't drive a hard...
I'm cutting up a deuce as we speak. You can have the cab tub for 50 bucks if you come get it. Doors have been removed but I still have them. Also have some more sheet metal you might be interested in. Let me know because Monday it goes to the scrapper. PM for contact info. MapQuest says it's...
Jeepsinker. As I stated I've roped this goat before and always managed to get it started. If you could send me a pic tomorrow of the bleeder screw I'd greatly appreciate it. I think I know which one your talking about but a pic would confirm it.
74.....I drove these trucks in the Army and know...
I have a blister on my palm from pumping the %^%*&$% thing. When I crack the line into the IP fuel sprays out. Is it that hard to get fuel from the pump to the injectors? I even gave it a shot of ether (applied very sparingly) in an attempt to get it to prime. :cookoo: This situation is making...
Okay...this ain't funny anymore. I recovered a M936A2 for a fellow member a while back and had to drive it home with an auxiliary fuel tank on the toolbox because it would not pull fuel from either tank. He is allowing me to work it like a rented mule while awaiting transport to his AO.
Once I...
Here is something to think about when dealing with deuces. I went in the Army in 1972 and drove deuces all over Germany in 75-76.
The M35 Deuces served all branches of the military for over 50 years and there may still be a few on active duty and in reserve units.
Back in the day when the...
I think it might look a little small perched up on the back of a tractor frame. Since you are not going to bob the truck you will have some frame uncovered, either in front or behind the bed. I would suggest using a deuce bed and cutting it down and saving the M105 since it's cherry.
