Maybe you missed the OP's original statement: "I don’t want to cut the bands in case it would potentially lower the value of whatever is inside.... "

Those two possibilities would have significantly differing weights, wouldn't they? Which prompts the question.... How much does this crate weigh and what are the overall dimensions???
