I agree with Heath: it might be a problem with the HH. Remove it to check to see if the button fell/broke off the bottom. You don't have to remove the IP to do this (ask me how I know).
Just ensure that the HH is installed in alignment with the rest of the IP & engine...you will have to...
Been working on seat brackets to fit a pair of fairly-new Toyota FJ buckets; I installed a pair of Metal-Tech PRP top-of-the-line off-road seats in my Dad's FJ and he let me keep the stock buckets.
Got the passenger side finished first, as I was afraid if I did the driver's side first I...
Sounds good; I'll be in touch after it's registered & plated.
The dual alternators were real easy to install & wire up...they work great since the batteries charged right up after running for about an hour (both 24-volt & 12-volt).
I'd like to get a look at your truck too.
Are you going to use the planetary gears as well? How about converting the Deuce axles to portal ends with the planetaries? Plenty of ag tractors used them; I just saw a JD orchard sprayer that had some serious portal axles & planetaries up around Modesto several days ago while heading home.
John, I'll be happy to report my findings when I finally get to drive her; I'm almost done fabricating seat brackets for the passenger side, then will get the driver's side fabbed. At least then I can putt-putt her around the neighborhood to finalize any issues before heading to the DMV for new...
Here is a shot of the remote brake reservoir; over a week now since installation & still hasn't dropped its fluid level.
I also installed some canvas shift lever boots; I got them for a great price on an auction site, cheaper than commercial counterparts were running.
Back to working on...
This is what I used and why:

Make sure to get the end inserts & new ferrules.
Been working like crazy on all kinds of little tasks, trying to get her all put back together so I can drive her.
Couldn't find a lower radiator guard so I made one from metal scraps I had lying around. It will be a while before I can afford to get a winch for this truck, so I might as well...
HOLY COW, if you can pull this off it will be AWESOME!! Even if you abandon the articulated drive system, it's still a worthy project. Can't wait to see how this turns out!!!
Good work!! [thumbzup]
I learned something interesting about the flexible nylon fuel lines between the IP & the secondary fuel filters today. When I started it up this morning to work on it, there was a pretty good fuel leak coming from the engine compartment...upon further inspection, the fuel leak was coming from...
Spent most of the day flushing the cooling system; I started with lots of fresh water to try to flush out any possible gunk & debris from having sat so long. I was happy to find that little rust or other debris came out. Even when I flushed it with Prestone cooling flush, it came out clean. I...
Took the whole IP apart to replace O-rings and check for problems...when I put it back together I did so 180-degrees off. The alignment marks on the input shaft will turn TWICE for every grooved tooth alignment on the HH.
Which makes sense: the HH needs only be aligned once every two rotations...
Thanks DH, I left this up in hopes of serving as an aid for the other threads that ended with no resolution. It starts becoming obvious when everything is working perfectly up to the injectors, especially on a low-mileage great-condition motor (mine hasn't been run very much in the past 10-12...
The Detroit 2-strokers don't tend to like fuels other than diesel...with ULSD, you could probably get away with a 90/10 or 80/20 mix in the summertime, as mentioned by wreckerman893. But my experiences with them has found best results with clean, straight diesel. Heavy oil mixes will result in...
I spent the entire day trying to get the engine to start...I bled the fuel lines, even loosening each & every injector line at the injectors; plenty of fuel was getting to the injectors but no fire. Some smoke vapor was coming from the exhaust, so it was obvious that something was getting...
Yes, it was all functioning correctly; when I dismantled it to put in the new O-rings, I made sure all these things were cleaned up & working correctly. I just didn't bother to mention it in my too-long post above. Thanks for the tip!
I AM A TOTAL DING-DONG.
Doghead called it; I had to step away for about an hour while I cleared my mind & tried to calm down. Then I went out & checked for TDC when all the alignment marks were lined up again.
IT WAS 180-DEGREES OFF. DOH!!!!!  aua
So, once I confirmed TDC...
I've got a LDT-465-1D motor. I've replaced all filters & fluids, then decided to replace all fuel lines since a couple of the nylon ones were cracked. I've drained my fuel tank, cleaned & flushed it, cleaned the in-tank lift pump & replaced the rubber fuel hose on it with a brand-new one...
