Hey all,
I've been hunting for the best deal, on the best transfer case I can find, for my truck. B&M Military Surplus states that they have several "new and rebuilt" units for a price that I can stomach.
I've found references to them in the archives, but nothing stating their trustworthiness...
US6x4/Toby,
Yeah, the manual is talking more about "in/out" not "up/down" but that was the closest information I could find. I have up/down/all-around movement, plus leakage. I didn't check in/out movement.
Toby, you did an incredible job considering that you were working by feel, without the...
Toby,
I've always been decent with engines but not so great with transmissions and transfer cases. The last transmission I had apart, was a 3 speed for an old Ford F-100. But, I digress.
I think the bearing is blown. I can't see how the bearing could just fall so grossly out of adjustment...
Hey Toby,
I've already done the suggestions in your first paragraph. The rear output shaft can be moved around by hand, and there is a new leak from the rear output shaft seal. It looks like it ate the rear output shaft bearing.
I know it can repaired/replaced, but I don't think you can just...
As I am adding to this old thread, you all can tell that I have run my query though the search engine.
Nearly all transfer case threads that I can find, are for the 939 series trucks with a smattering of deuce and a half questions. My question is related to the M809 series-
Here's what...
The main battery switch is off when it does this?
I've never heard of this before. Did a previous owner add some aftermarket gizmo that is tucked away somewhere?
I have the complete set of belts, hoses and water pump gasket needed for a coolant flush and refresh of those parts.
One of my axle boots recently split, so I'm taking this as an omen that I should dive into the steering axle earlier than planned to inspect brakes, re-pack bearings, inspect...
I won't offer an opinion on which is "best" but I'll offer the reasons for my choice:
I drove M35A2 and A3 and 939 series trucks in the Navy. After having an Allison transmission pack it up on US301 on a nearly-new truck, and watching all the CTIS fail on my unit's trucks, I decided that I...
Thanks, I'll take a look. If it doesn't work, I've seen some kludges during my Google searches that will probably work. They involve chain, bolts, wood and a small bottle or screw jack.
