Ok, Ok........first are the pics of the tailgate area. Had to go in and replace the window crank. They are not very well made. Had to buy the actual handle from LMC $50 !! (OUCH), but I needed it asap. Bummer that it is chrome, but I'll get around to fixing that.
All,
I picked up my new, to me, M1009 from Rick (CUCVRUS). It is my second M1009 and I have learned quite a bit since I purchased my first in May of 2011. I waited this long to post something because I really wanted to live with the new truck for awhile and see what I got. I have also been a...
LOL ! It's angry because my wife drove it while I was over on the sand box. I think the beast couldn't handle her lead foot !!
I'll be following the convertible project, sounds awesome.
Thanks Rick. My wife is on me to get it running and get it sold, as she is not happy with the two trucks in front of the house. I was hoping to strip her down and use her off road, because she is good mechanically (well, was), but she is adamant about having only one. I'll check the lines...
I just wanted to add that before I had this happen, and it came on in one day, the truck run great. I couldn't and didn't have a complaint about the mechanics of the truck.
OK,
I have not had a lot of time to trouble shoot and have had a few things come up, but I went ahead and started the grey beast again this morning. It started right up, but it sputters and has no ability to rev up and feels like it has no power. She blows white/grey smoke which smells like...
OK, in daylight, you can't see the turn signal when activated. They are weak and it flashes very quickly. I am now on my third flasher unit. The one was an HD 552, the second was EL-12H and the latest is a LF-12. All of them were made for trailers and none of them have made a difference in...
M1009. Class III with a 4 and 7 pin connector spliced in to the existing wiring. Everything works great, except when I plug my little 5x8 trailer in (any trailer) I get a very rapid flashing when I used the turn signals. Note, everything works as it should, it's just that the turn signal is...
Yup, the new one had caplets. I had to redo the ones on my old 09 and I used those 3/4" plugs. They worked great.
By the way, the new truck is really sweet. I had a little minor surgery a week or so back, but I'll probably get around to posting about it tomorrow.
For the M1009 Cap I went to Ace Hardware and purchased 4 3/4" rubber plugs. I used some 3M weather strip adhesive and they fit great. I can run a drill in the center for a cable way if need and the seal is very good.
Not really sure about the last question and I am by no means an expert. I have used the waxy stuff inside frame rails, doors, tailgate and up and down the insides of fenders front and rear. Also don't forget the cowl area and anywhere else that water could get trapped. Look at a rusty blazer...
Clean off everything really well, dry thoroughly, use the rust reformer anywhere there is surface rust, then paint with chassis black to seal it up well. Rubberized undercoat for the wheel wells should prove durable (get quality stuff), but definitely use the anti-rust waxy rust proofing stuff...
I just purchased an extremely clean M1009. I am going to purchase Eastwood's Anti-Rust and spray it all over and inside the rails, doors, fenders etc. It is a self healing wax formula and supposedly pretty good (think Ziebart). $150 should get the truck done.
I would have loved to use WAXOYL...
