I finished the exterior today. No pics yet. I started the color coat on Friday morning and the gun gave me trouble. I cleaned the gun and again it would spray for a few seconds and then it would lean out. I finally found the pin hole vent in the can was clogged. I worked for about an hour and...
I just verified that I need a 15 or 20 AMP and it has the packard connectors. Those are the newer style right? If I don't get one by the time you get back I will let you know.
Thanks
Chuck
Bruce,
I notice your trailer still had some masking tape on it at Aberdeen. Did you ever remove it or is it still there? What did you do, drive to Aberdeen from the paint booth?
The EUC is not something you have. It is something you fill out to get permission from the government to purchase certain items from the military surplus. The SF-97 is really only a document telling people that the vehicle was released from government ownership. Legally it is something like a...
I am looking at it this weekend but I think this one was released a very long time ago. I am going to look for the "budd" tag and the body serial number tomorrow. If I get one I will post it.
Thanks
Chuck
No mask on the tires Ted. We never masked them in the Army so I want to make it authentic plus it is easier to not mask.
Chris,
I got you call a little late. Did everything turn out OK? I have used about half a gallon of Gillespie red oxide as it stands and that is with one coat. I figure...
RE: Re: RE: Painting the 818
I have done the long wait in the ROK also. I feel your pain. At the time I had just purchased an old blazer and all I could do was think about what I was going to do to it when I got home. Thanks for the kind words. It is far too humid and looks like it might rain...
RE: Re: RE: Painting the 818
It is more of a pain to paint them together. I painted the new fender off the truck then installed. I am doing a motor pool repaint. When we would get ours repainted by the Division paint shop we would mask it like I did then they would spray it down over everything...
See is this one is in dbase. It shows a 1961 Ford M151A1 on the title. It has no data plate on the dash. The "vin" listed on the title seems to be a reg number. Can you see if you can find info on a reg number.
Reg number 2B7653
Veh Type M151A1
just bought from private party.
It all started with me just wanting to replace the rusted out Driver's side fender. I then just decided to do the whole truck. I still need to do some misc patching hear and there but I figure I can just touch it up. I will also need to mask off the interior and paint it this weekend.
The pics do not do justice to the rot. I am still evaluating if the body is going to make it or if I need to part it out. It would need a lot just to be safe. I hope to be able to get her back in shape but I think the best way to do it is to find a better tub with no powerpack. I will post...
The title lists a 1961 Ford but I think it is more likely a late 60's A1. It is rough but came with a lot of parts. I will try to start it later this week and when I am sure the mechanicals are working I am going to tear it all apart and start the rot repair on the tub. The price was cheap so I...
