I would hook in a mechanical gauge and see what it reads . You could have a bad sender or gauge now , military gauges are not the most reliable . You could also use a IR heat gun on the motor to check it>
Fairly common here in michigan to get them dry , that's how I bought mine ($125) from member Jeffmule (General Jims Surplus) ,it costs $8 to fill both batteries this was 2 years ago.

I could find the 715 tm's on SS but it should be in the -10 .
But you can go to the M715Zone.com and look at the top of the page for Online Manuals. You can view them or download them for free
+ 1 on the winch you can't beat a PTO winch if you know how to use them . And all the information you need is in the TM's , there is even a recovery TM available in the SS TM section.

I've straightened many top rails on dump boxes with this method . A nice heavy piece of square or rectangular steel held on the side opposite to the side you strike with a hammer will make it nice and straight .
