This is most certainly the correct forum for your truck, and best of luck selling it! I'd love to own an M35 series with the original comet engine, if I hadn't had spent $2000 on my 54 GMC and lived a little closer I'd make you an offer.
If I can't get it hooked up for now I suppose I could just remove the front driveshaft so I can atleast drive it around? I bet this thing would still kick a lot of rump off road even in 4x4 mode with that big 455 under the hood.
You know, Yuma has no real hills to speak of let alone even park on. I don't really need the parking gear. The original Hydramatic didn't have a park feature and the Military just relied on the E brake and wheel chocks to keep it at bay.
Guess if it turns out to be more than I want to toy with...
Thanks for the info, how adaptable do you think said linkage would be to a turbo 400 tranny with a B&M shifter? I'm assuming the best option would be to utilize the original linkage and just find a way to get it hooked up to my tranny's shift linkage instead of trying to fabricate an entire new...
Many of us here feel your pain as well! Glad to see that you almost have it fixed, a lot of other people would have given up by now and just scrapped the thing or parted it out for cash. Your either really hard headed or a glutton for punishment like me. Actually, anyone who...
Fantastic, thank you Tim! So I am guessing that little reverse shifter shaft is "spring loaded" so to speak and is either pulled outwards by the shift linkage or pulled in by the return spring for reverse operation, correct?
That's great that you found the problem and are willing to fix it, too many people today just throw something away if it don't work right. Whatever happened to good old fashioned small repair shops? Anyway, I bet you'll have it going in no time! Hopefully the other one on your parts truck is in...
Although I have the manual, I need some better quality pictures of a few areas on the m135/211 series deuce. If someone could take a few pics of each area and post them here for me, I'd be most thankful!
-Generator and generator regulator
-Linkage on the reverse shifter shaft on the front of...
That's a good idea on the manual, that way you don't have to worry about getting it dirty either. I've found some pics in my manual would be alot more useful if they were larger too.
I would agree with your second post as well. Follow the manuals to a T and everything will be working the way...
Thank you to everyone for your opinions and input on my questions.
I like your idea Bill, and you are correct. The cheapest and by far the easiest and least problematic setup I can go with is just a single 24V Military alternator connected to 2 batteries wired in a series. A 15 AMP converter...
Like I said, the manual(s) is are idiot proof. I swear there's probably an entire chapter dedicated to rolling down your windows in my book somewhere.
According to my manual it say's, "Do not attempt to adjust the rear band. Rear band adjusts automatically with vehicle in normal...
HEY! I like that idea! My truck already has a 12V starter in it that's original to the motor. So the HEI can take on full 24V power but only delivers 12 to 13 volts? Does it have some kind of internal voltage converter or what I think you called a "resistor"?
Would this work on mine?
KMJ...
If you can still find one, Memphis Equipment used to sell REB shift kits that allowed you to use your stock Hydramatic like a manual tranny. The second easiest option would be to put a Clark 5 speed transmission in from a CCKW. Both were very common conversions in the day when CCKW's and G749...
I have both the original paperback 686 page manual AND all 6 parts of the TM from the site on my PC. One must never depend solely on modern technology to find information. :D A book does not require electricity and can fit neatly inside the map box. At $30 plus postage PLUS the fact it's an...
First off, you are one lucky dog to get a free truck like that. Let alone two! The second one is probably best suited as a parts truck as putting axles back under it would probably cost more than what full complete trucks are worth. The M135/M211 series is an excellent truck and to be quite...
