I have a deuce that's powered with a V8 Oldsmobile rocket engine. Good engine, All stock, LOADS of power. Problem is, the truck is really loud because there's no exhaust hooked up at all. The manifolds are there though and extend a couple feet back. So, it's setup for dual exhaust. However, I...
I am curious as to how much clearance you have between the tires sidewalls with the larger 11's. It looks awesome, I just may put all 11.00's on mine as well. :D
Many members here have converted their air powered wipers over to electric power. That way if they suddenly begin leaking a lot air you are not out of your power brakes. Because of the dual wheel cylinders these do stop better than the other later Deuce's, and if your a big guy they can still be...
I think you hit the nail on the head! The truck was originally purchased by a guy named Jack, owner of Jacks Government suplus in Tucson. He bought it back in 1985 from Luke Air Force base and said when it picked it up it had no bed, axles, motor or tranny. The data plate shows it was built as a...
I just bought this 1954 GMC and I am having a hard time figuring out what the heck happened to the paint job on it. It's lived in AZ all it's life and has been sitting in the sun for the better part of 25 years or more. It's pretty sun bleached but I can't figure out the odd white striping all...
I have done some searching on the subject here but I cannot seem to find a definitive answer on the subject. Many here have mentioned either installing lockout hubs on the front axle or simply removing the front driving axle for increased tire life and fuel economy.
I don't know if my truck...
Great information guys, thank you. The truck is actually the Korean era M211 and is not a Multifuel. It has a 455 Oldsmobile motor and a turbo 400 Hydramatic tranny. I don't plan to put be putting thousands of miles on it per year. I thought a Deuce with this power plant setup would be easier...
What's the life expectancy of brand new 9.00x20 Military tires on the Deuce? These have a such a high ply rating that it seems to me if they are run at the proper pressure, standard duels setup, mainly driven on pavement and no heavy load in the bed they would last darn near forever. I live in a...
Jack is a great guy to talk with, in fact the M211 I just bought was once owned by him. He bought it from Luke Air Force base in the mid 80's and it simply went from owner to owner before getting to me. I hope to be her last and final owner. :D Jack's prices are high as he doesn't like getting...
I'll try and get a better picture. I am pretty sure they need to be packed with grease, that's what one picture in the manual shows. You just pack them by hand getting sufficient grease around each bearing. I'll check again but I don't see anything in the book about the bearings being lubed with...
Rich, the floor panel you see out of place isn't bolted in place. But I will be moving it back, that's for sure. I have a few things to re-arrange and install in the cab. Some doofus installed an old gas pedal/linkage from an old Cady and as such moved the floorplate backwards to make room for...
Well I got the title for the truck today. Turns out the truck was originally built as an M220 shop van. But as you can see it is disguised as an M211.
Do these have a dual circuit brake system? I may be confusing that with a dual wheel cylinder arrangement. A dual circuit system would be a...
No pics yet, the truck won't be here for another few weeks. Y'all will be the first to get them though.
Come on Stan, everyone has to have a money pit. Nothing like using 5 gallons of gas to get a gallon of milk from Walmart. Actually Walmart is just up the street here. Yuma's small.
Well the truck has been paid for. Now to make for shipping arrangements.....
Tim, that is a great idea. Seller said something to that affect as well. Already has a B&M cable floor shifter. All the shift tower is made up of is a simple sheet metal housing with lots of internals. Bet I could gut...
And I don't think manual brakes on a 7 ton green machine are anywhere as easy to operate as manual brakes on an old packard...
Stan, don't you have a Youtube account? I think I saw the video of your M135, freakin' sweet machine. Like the "driver fuel" comment. Good beer  I'm a...
Thanks for your input guys. Your all very encouraging! :D
Do you guys think I will be able to install the shifting tower and pull lever starter back in place over the B&M? I've been told it can be done by some other M135 owners who have put similar BB GM engines in their trucks. Will...
Awesome, and simple! I've seen so many worn out latches on these trucks, this is the quickest and easiest repair I have ever seen done on these. It's an old post, nearly 11 pages back in this section. Talk about a thread resurrection....
That's a good idea, but she is going to be an asphalt queen. Even without a low range, I think the 455 produces enough power to easily offset that problem. Still....low range and 455 Rocket torque with 6.17:1 axles.....that's alot of muscle!! Talk about a hot rod deuce!
