Bushings came from PowerPacker. A part number and PDF engineering drawing is shown in Post #30 on page 4 of this thread. They shipped them with my airbag rebuilt kit. They are proud of them at $22.50 each. Two are required for each shock!
Then to test it all out, we cut up a tree that fell against the house in storms last week. We loaded up the truck to haul 4-5' log sections to a friend's house for his firewood reserves.
Also, I finally received my air bag rebuild kit from powerpacker via Ohio Hydraulic. While waiting for parts I had to support one side of the cab where air bag was removed. My bottle jack was the perfect size.
Then I needed the bottle jack for tire swapping detailed above, so I got out the...
Ok, updates needed.
First I was able to pick up a few tires to replace the worst dry rotted ones. I got two fairly low use XML tires off a 1082 trailer and an evenly worn MV/T for a good spare.
The two XMLs went on the front steer axle. I moved a decent XML to the intermediate axle and have...
Yes, I ran my truck that way for a few weeks while I was looking for a couple replacements. It worked fine. I can't speak to long term effects, but if you have healthy batteries and a good working alternator, it should work fine.
Welcome and thank you for your service. You'll find a pretty solid MV ownership base around S. KY and Mid TN. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or need remote deuce for sale inspections before you return.
So LMTV772 (the dude with all the info) is banned? I'd probably buy and install one if we could get a straight answer on the wiring in the dash. Is it there for non-winch equipped rigs?
Better post up a photo of connections on the back of the tach and let us know the year and model of the vehicle. Maybe we can help more that way. Does it look like this???
A failing compressor can allow excessive oil into air lines and contaminate the system. I'm not sure if this will purge through the air dryer or just clog up the system.
There is an alcohol based liquid put in the system in colder climates to keep ice from forming, but it has no lube in it...
Nice work! I'd be interested in knowing which online auction... PM or text me. It's just a momentary, one position switch like is used on a garden tractor or similar, right?
I see you also have the "duct tape volume-reduction" modification on the low air warning buzzer. [thumbzup]
Welcome to SS and the hobby. Wow, Vermillion! Not a town you hear mentioned often. I spent a few of my formative years (knee high to a grasshopper) in Vermillion. We lived in a rented house on a church camp property right on the lake. I remember taking walks with my parents to a cliff...
Their FB page says something about being at the Bonneville salt flats posted on Aug 10. They may be such a small operation that they have taken the show on the road and off the grid for festivities out on the flats.
Like buffalorunner, I'm concerned about where this case goes. Flat out, any driver is responsible for their own pre-trip inspections. If they are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with the vehicle, it is THEIR responsibility to stop the trip. It seems someone is going after the perceived deep pockets...
I've been toying with similar ideas. A small box pop up tent camper mounted sideways at the front of the bed would also be interesting. When deployed, the slide out beds would extend out past the sides of the bed. You would also have a nice "porch" over the remaining portion of the bed.
Welcome to SS. I'm a little unclear what you need related to braking instructions. The FMTV platform uses air brakes.
As for for top speed there are many discussions here related to speed and gearing. Please use the search function and spend some time reading. In general, this generation...
