Yeah I was comparing GEP 6.5 to more modern engines that can go 400k+ without opening them up.
I saw somewhere that the 6.2s need to be opened up around 250k, so I would assume a GEP could go a lot longer than that?

Vehicle only has 14k miles on it.
I would guess my situation is probably a combination of some cheap, weaker batteries (brand new, just not up to spec), and a starter that's been abused by the previous owner.
I'm not sure why this is, but my old humvee 6.2 engine would only take a bump of the key on an average temperature day to fire right up. But my cucv 6.2 takes a solid 1-1.5 seconds and then fires up.
Its a small difference, I know, but it got me interested in why there would be a difference...
I'm just trying to save a buck. Not having to buy a whole other starter would be great. Looking to get a 12v starter for my eventual 12v conversion.
It would be counter productive if I spent more than the starters worth having someone tear it down or rebuild it.
So the previous owner of my truck apparently tried to have a new starter put in, didn't work or something and so I have this extra starter laying around.
The only identification it has is two stickers.
One says 12v and the other 24v. Can anyone ID this thing?

Previous owner removed the ste ice plug from the cab, so I'm not sure if the entire diagnostics harness is still there or not.
Are those blocks what used to attached to the diagnostics plug?
I got the nut off with pipe wrench and breaker bar w/ pipe extension. Took nearly 1200 ft/lbs to break the nut loose. Washer came off with it.
My next problem is the pinion yoke is stuck on pretty good. Tried pulling it off from the front with a rachet straps, tried hammering from the rear...
I got fuel pressure through the filter and got it fired up for 5 seconds at a time now.
I'm sure it just needs more bleeding, but the fuel filter base is leaking internally. The filter itself is full of fuel, but the dripping is coming straight off the base of the filter. Not sure why it's doing...
