That fire truck was/is a nice looking rig! I noticed the strange doohicky in front of the passengers door that's thae same as is on mine. What is it and what is it for? Same things are on the M-35A2's and I don't have a clue about them either. Thanks for the pictures, I'll copy them with...

    My new 211

You are correct. Sheet metal wise, it is an exceptional job done by someone who took the time to do it right. I am going to remove it once i have all the pices together to put the canvas top on or when I can finally get that cursed M1009 running and out of the barn so I can get the M-211 in...

Maryland MV owners are in trouble

Now I know why God wanted me out of Maryland and cancelled my return orders after my overseas rotation. Thank you Lord!

    My new 211

The look on the drivers (yours?) matched mine pretty much to a "T" as the truck was preparing to roll off the trailer. Not sure why but when the truck was rolled onto the trailer the front wheels turned. Rolling backwards, they did not turn at all. One of things to check out.

    My new 211

OK, here it is. Noteto self, ya'll are welcome to participate if you'd like, never ever make a determination of condition of any vehicle when said vehicle is surrounded bu cars, trucks and complete unknows that are crunhed, crushed, smashed and otherwise rendered into a condition that would...

    My new 211

OK, truck is home. Pictures will be posted tonight. Rose colored glasses are off and I definetly got a labor of love here. But then again, that's why I got it. It's just going to take a bit longer to get there.

If you mean the one at Balcaens, yup. If there's parts trucks near by, I'll be looking for them. I'd greatly appreciate there location(s). My M-35's are pretty much intact, just cosmetic stuff. Good thing too cause I think I just found my money hole, Not much is missing on the 211...

    My new 211

Thank you, will do on the photo's. Just off the cuuff it looks like they used galvanized metal over plywood. but I'll post the pics tomorrow and the next few days as we become aquainted. It's going to be the tribute truck for my Dad. He didn't drive this vehicle as it's a 54. But he was in...

    My new 211

Thank You! Weather is definitely a problem right now for anything. The truck was owned by a junk yard (sorry auto recycler) owner who parked it several years ago and let it sit. According to legend it ran fine as of two years ago. Gas tank smell makes that sound about right. It's got that...

    My new 211

Short note to say just picked up a M-211. Looks just like the picture in Standard Catalog of U.S. Military Vehicles, 2nd Edition, page 158 top picture (just add 60 years of wear and tear and you have it pretty well pictured:)). Pictures will be posted tomorrow. Somebody bubbed (no offense to...

    Cool Down

All three of mine get the 5 minute cool down. I can't say i read it in the book, it's a big book. it was suggested sometime in the past after i joined SS and have followed the procedure every since. Hasn't hurt anything and I'll keep doing it till evidence to the contrary shows it's not...

    Vic 1 Radio Power

Good questions! You beat me to the punch too! I have a speaker mounted in my truck; I assume it was hooked up to whatever radio system was in there way back when. Beings there was a SINCGARS (sp?) mount, I'm sure it had something to do with that. Anyway mine is a simple black box mounted by...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

This is a post of an on going saga but since i can't find my original postings on the subject, I'll provide a little background and then go into the meat of the last few days. First off before i begin, most of the work over the past days has been one handed. My right hand is pretty...

The Military is starting to scare me...

The AF for a short period of time had a fit of insanity. They allowed certain people to sign off their own Red X's. No one else looked at it. Fortunately the insanity didn't last very long, mainly due to incidents such as that one. I miss those days too. After a while tho, once you make too...
