    gear ratio

Umm. The '53 might or might not be a Timken that had CV joints instead of u-joints at the knuckles. If so, then the '53 will have a smaller axle shaft diameter and a different spline count. There are several threads on here and across the web about Rockwell axle differences. If you are...

Has anyone converted a 6.2 into a turbo charged unit?

I think there are several terminology issues in this thread. There are people answering engine questions and other people answering HMMWV specific figment questions. Lots of confusion. Let's start with the engine. Yes, any 6.2 or 6.5 engine will bolt into the truck. Yes, any 6.2 or 6.5 head...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

The washer isn't getting power because both the Gasser K10 wiper switch and the switch that was originally in the Cowdog are the wrong ones. Probably why the delay wipers don't work either. The proper 1987 with tilt, with pulse wiper switch seems to be made of unobtanium because I can't find...

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

Like exactly 5 inches. I read that and walked over to one to measure. My eyeball sure thinks 5" is it. They fit my stock 3/4 ton Suburban perfectly. Which means with a 14 bolt rear axle, they will fit a M1009 perfectly as well.

    Brainstorming a few ideas/daily driver

I am going on almost 15 years now of daily driving some kind of MV to work just about every day. Most family trips too. I would caution you that they are probably not the best choice, they break, they are not user friendly, they leak, you cook in the summer and freeze in the winter most of the...

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

They are 8 lug rims. They will not work on a stock M1009. However, I thought this thread was about somebody putting 1 ton axles under a M1009 and looking for rims?

    H1 Wheels 1 ton axles M1009

H2 rims will work very well also. You can normally find them around $300 for a set of 5 on Craigslist. Most have worn out 315/70 tires which are 35 x12.50. But, since they are 17 inch rims. Tires are actually cheaper than 16 or 16.5 tires. Get the 17 inch metric version of a 33 x12.50 and...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I think the only vehicle in that picture that didn't came from or through you is my flat bed car hauler. Got the front bumper, grill surround, headlight surrounds, grill and grill guard on this morning. Now to track down why the washer pump is not getting any power.

    Truck-Lite LED Headlights----Finally Ordered a set.

I thread a nut to the engine side of the adjusting screw with a washer on all of mine.

I like the whistle as well.

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I should back up a post. The GMT-400 over flow tank I had in hand last week cracked as soon as I started using soap and water to clean it up some. That is why I went with the Dorman tank. The #8 injector is not fun to mess with in a truck with A/C. Pretty much the last 4 hours have been...

Is blazer driveshaft a weak point?

That way your slip yoke and NP208 become the weak point. Not trying to make fun. Just pointing out that if you are going to be driving it hard enough to twist the drive shaft off, that might be the cheapest thing left down there. Along with the easiest to replace in the field and still get...

    Turbo and waste gate question

A few things to keep in mind. The Multifuel engines got a turbo added not so much for boost, but as a way to eliminate some of the black smoke those engines put out. I think 8 pounds of boost is very generous and about double what they might actually put out. The sound and the boost do not...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

I got the $8.00 at O'Reilly's generic overflow bottle. Dorman # DOR 603-001. I put it on the passenger side behind the battery. A few holes already in the fender lined up enough to just bolt it in. Well, actually I took a 1" long 1/4" bolt, fed it from the back side and tightened it up with...

    Air pack rebuilding question

Sorry, It has been a while since I thought Airpack. I was thinking compensator housing and piston and wrote diaphragm.

    DB2 pump #s on an M1009

Normally since just about all the 24 volt units people on this site will come across are from a HMMWV. That means the connections for the 24 volt top will have Packard fittings. While the 12 volt connections will just be regular male wire terminals.

    Air pack rebuilding question

I haven't thought "air pack" in a while. Brake fluid can only be getting into the air side through the seals between the two halves or at the valve that turns the air on. Did you check the diaphragm on the side? Another crazy thought is the master cylinder vent. Could the fluid in your vent...

    IP for 84 M1009

There is another thread in the CUCV section about that same number ip currently. It is being run and enjoyed by the owner.

    DB2 pump #s on an M1009

The last 4 digits comes out 6.2 on my number charts. I couldn't find that sequence anywhere else. 6.2 or 6.5. I think it is just a bad day at the data plate line.
