Well it looks like Colton will not even make it Saturday morning. He has an academic UIL thing he can't get out of that morning.
I still plan to show up Friday evening. I just don't know which vehicle. Thunder storms are forecast Friday night into Saturday morning. I pulled the hard top off...
I was back at work today with the AN adapters that fit the radiator transmission cooler mentioned above. The fittings did fit. I made sure the combination of straight, 90° and 45° hose ends were still going to work. Then I watched yet another YouTube video of how to cut and fit the hose ends...
No, no clutch in a HMMWV. But thousands of engines from these trucks were sold as surplus. Who knows what they ended up in or might end up in. Someone searching 5 years from now for information about the valley drain might happen upon this thread.
With the older engines valley drain fuel...
I can look at the blocks in my class next week. But, somewhere around 1992-1994 when they changed over to the 6.5. The drain went from the small hole at the back with no tube to the bigger hole with the tube.
I like the tube because it puts oil, coolant or fuel leaking over to the side instead...
The hood is now painted. I just have the outsides of the front bumper and grill guard to go. Then I think I will be done paint for this truck. Yeah.
Here is the before shot. I didn't think about an after shot until I had moved everything back inside for the night. Oh well.
You might want to find a shop that knows something or can think. The only difference between a military HMMWV IP and a military CUCV IP is the top cover. The CUCV IP is the same as the civilian IP. 3 screws, 2 wire connections and a hose fitting is all it takes to swap the covers.
I have three...
I learned another new thing recently. Like most learning experiences, it was painful. Just my wallet this time, but painful still.
I posted a month or so about how I was hooking up the braided steel transmission cooler hoses. I even put part numbers in. That was all great until I went to hook...
That is a '67 Cooper S. I drove it in high school. Well truthfully, I worked on it in high school and got to drive it I think 5 days my senior year. Colton and I have been autocrossing it the last few years. We broke the crankshaft last race. The rebuild is on hold until I get the Cowdog done...
Yes, it was a fun morning.
Just came in for lunch from playing "this should fit". I didn't want to throw away all the little pieces of insulation left over from doing the truck and figured sticking them in the recesses of the hood would help noise levels. I still plan to put a factory type...
Jennifer and I made the 400 mile each way trek to see Warthog Sunday. We came back with a truck bed full of parts and a really ugly M1009 shell. Just a few of the parts will be needed right now for the Cowdog project. The rest just add to my future use stash.
But, I got to use 3 of my trucks...
I have 30 or 40 nights sleeping in M35's as well. The wind will move the truck more than you might think. At an air show a few years ago the truck getting rocked by wind and rain kept waking me up. I was nice and dry inside and would just go back to sleep. The next morning shade canopies left...
I ordered a banks kit a few months ago. Each bag of parts has a sticker on it listing what the bag is with a build date. As mentioned above. All of my kit was put together in 2016. You can still get them.
Money invested wise if I were to do it again here is what I would do.
Factory a/c...
It looks like your slave port is what the big red wire that is not hooked to the buss bar.
Your drivers side alternator belt is too thin. I couldn't tell if it was the proper belt that has just worn down that way or if it started off as the wrong size belt.
I have to beg a camera from the art teacher. She had surgery a few weeks ago and will be back in another week. Then I can start begging again.
I thought I was going to be watching the woodshop class this afternoon and have a rule about no tools come out unless it is just my students in the...
Started pulling the front axle apart. There was good grease in both front bearings. After the way the rear axle looked inside I was not expecting the front bearings to be worth anything. They cleaned up super nice with no wear marks or any visible defects. The rotors are shot and way below...
The hoses all got put back on this morning and the system pressurized. It held pressure for 45 minutes without loosing any. I consider that done.
We added 2 inches to the rod which goes between the transfer case and back of the engine. That makes it fit just right. Waiting for the paint to...
3/8 hose from lift pump to filter. 1/4 hose from filter to ip. 1/4 hose for return lines.
Unless you have a lot of slack adjustment room on your alternator brackets. I would suggest new belts. Once they start slipping, the belts get hot and glaze over. Pretty much making then prone to slipping...
Do you have two alternators? Are they both hooked up? Where does the 10 gauge red wire on the back battery ground terminal go? Where does the power cable going to the starter motor come from?
Dang Mark. Colton is going to be near you tomorrow trying to buy some kind of special guitar. Does he need to stop by to help you with anything?
get well soon.
