ALT 2 charges the rear battery. It has more of a charge than the front battery from what you posted. Try checking at the battery with the engine running. Anything more than 14.4 volts is considered an overcharge situation. That is what you will probably find on the rear battery.
Most likely...
Thank you for the compliments.
No, no transmission controller yet. Those things cost money! Plus, if I had it then I might be tempted to throw a drive shaft on and see how it drives. It will be one of the last things I buy so I won't rush through other stuff to get it on the road. Plus I...
I have the truck on a 4 post Hunter alignment lift. The wheels free jacks at either end of the lift require the lift be raised a few feet up. That makes getting in and out of the interior an exercise routine. It is only a few inches difference, but every little bit helps my aging knees.
Plus...
I can only manage road trips on that holiday if it falls on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. It just didn't work out this year.
Yes, the spare parts nearby is very nice. I got the rear axle from the '90 removed Sunday morning. (G80 clean gear oil, no end seal leaks, no play pinion and...
Kenny I wrote the above as clear as I could all the time thinking that you and your gasser Dodge NV4500 would show up and make it not as clear.
Since we went down the muddle path now. Other people have taken drag racing safety bell housings and cut them to fit a NV4500 just fine. You can add...
I have 4 6.2 engines running straight 12 volt glow plug systems. I have learned to use only Gates belts and keep them tight. We don't have a NAPA in my town or I might try them. I tried the house brand at O'Reilly's and Autozone. They barely made it a month before I ran out of tightening...
Grinding the starter to me is a bad idea. Which style do you have to begin with? You might not even have to do anything. If you do, 27Mt and 28Mt big mouth nose cones are available for less than $20.00. It really isn't worth the time or effort in my opinion.
The NV4500 used by Chevy had two different transmission to bell housing bolt patterns. Both different from any other Chevy bell housing. You have to get the bell to match the year of your NV4500. Or make one.
All of the passenger side slave cylinder bell housings were built for driver side...
The glow plug system doing what is called "after glow" is why the volt meter isn't going up for at least 20 seconds after start and depending on the outside air temperature, longer.
Do do you still have the firewall glow plug resistor? If so, both alternators are taxed with charging both...
Sorry I jumped to a test when I should have asked first off if you have changed the fuel filter? Even if you have recently, do it again. Part of the filter change is basically a lift pump check out as well. When you unplug the pink wire, open the filter vent and turn the engine over until...
Try holding a steady 1,000-1500 rpm sitting still in park. Give it a blip and then get off the throttle. A failing IP will normally shut off in that situation.
Thank you Rory. I have never had an upgrade named after me. Cool.
I didn't suggest a receiver above because the op said he didn't want one. But as others have posted. That is the best option in my opinion. I regularly pull a lot hooked to the receiver. But drive like your grand mother going to...
I had almost the exact same issue. Diode trio inside the alternator was bad. The TM tells in great detail how to check it and get to it.
Posting on a saturday afternoon is kind of the slowest time of the week.
Take the pintle and the plate it bolts to apart. If they are all original I doubt you will get it all apart without breaking some or even all of them. Don't forget the long square tubing underneath. Look at the long bolts and see if they are actually still all there. They probably will be...
Disclaimer to start with. I do not work on the newer electronic common rail diesels. So I have not seen first hand what happens to them with non diesel run.
I do talk vehicles with just about everyone I actually talk to. The 6.4 and 6.7 Ford engines don't run right and have lasting severe...
I am doing all new parts except the metal lines on my Cowdog project. Silicone for me. I like it. Parts don't rust and seem to last a lot longer for me.
When I did all new everything on my gasser M35 back in 2007. I even made new lines. All new lines for the entire truck. A thread like this...
I don't know why my M715 master cylinder rusted so bad. I had DOT 3 in it, vacuumed all of that through the bleeders at all 4 corners, put denatured alcohol in the master and vacuumed that all through. Then I filled it with surplus BFS that was yellow. I vacuumed it through all 4 bleeders...
Rich, if your factory one is working now, keep it. I was happy to see there are some out there. Which is why I linked it.
I did the manual control proportioning valve on my '67 Cooper S autocross car. It was a pain to get that last little adjustment just right. Then the sun came out or it...
I took the pictures of the truck with the shackle flip the day after the shackle flip was done. I put the exhaust tail pipe back on and it cleared the springs by about 1/8". The exhaust was below the spring. I was worried about the drivers side tire going up and driving the passenger side...
