The tensioner seems to be fine and has to be pushed all the way back to barely get the belt on. Can't really turn the motor by hand....but we tried bumping it by just hitting the starter over and over, but the belt would not come off. Only came off after it was running for about 30 seconds...
We tried just bumping it to see where it would start coming off and it wouldn't come off. When we actually started the engine and ran it, it comes off so fast you can't see what pulley it starts coming off of first.
Got the mil spec serpentine belt I needed for my M1097, but the darn thing won't stay on. It comes right off as soon as I start the humvee. I did find that a 8 inch bolt on a guide pulley was bent, and after I replaced it, the belt stayed on for about 45 seconds and came off again. I have spun...
Thanks.....makes since that it has a serpentine belt rather than the 4 belts that were on all humvees prior to 1997. Thought it might be an optimizer or something, but without the turbo...still good news that it's a good one! thank you.
What exactly is the upgrade other than changing from four belts to a single serpentine belt? I know the M1114's were uparmored humvees, and my M1097 is and was an unarmored Sea Bee Humvee.
Already had a few humvees....just bought another that Govplanet said "Will not start....missing parts on engine." It's one of only a few M1097's which have been sold. It's a 1994 with only 2000+ miles. Anyway, got it home, put in new batteries...started right up. Just had to buy a new serpentine...
Had a water can/gas can holder that was smashed, so I cut it off. Pretty sure there was no license plate on this vehicle. Not sure what the bracket is for. I think your right....a two pin U bracket that attached both. I'll have to figure something out.
Right on the money.....put it in high and drive while holding down the brake and as I let off the brake it moved a couple feet....Okay........where in the heck do I get another halfshaft....?
