    Transmission oil light

I though dh's response was on the polite side. Next time, I'm going with tranny is shot, crush the truck.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

395's add low end. He may be able to hang with the forced induction crowd now, till 50-55mph. Pass the popcorn please...

    Transmission oil light

DH and JB are correct. It is an over-speed light tied in with the CTIS system. Tires are rated at 55mph.

    m931a2 emergency shut off issue

Engine ground connection junction of 8.3L is front right lower corner of block, below alternator. Remove all, wire brush, reinstall.

    m931a2 emergency shut off issue

Mostly no. It can overheat if the pull coil stays engaged, but that is energized from the starter motor. If you want you can make sure there is 24v on 1 or both wires when compared to the (third) ground wire, and then only +24v on one wire when running. They are kind of a PITA. Some people...

    m931a2 emergency shut off issue

That is just the regular shut down solenoid. They are marginal to begin with.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

You didn't turn me onto the P pump. Show me high output 5.9L's running a 10mm MW pump. Those guys pour gobs of $ into their engines, and none are using it. The power-up comes from a 12mm P-7100 pump injecting more fuel, much sooner. A 10mm MW pump can be increased, but it will also greatly...

Anyone regret goin to 16.00r20 Tires on M923a2?

I also saw a lead on eBay in AZ for $100 a tire plus shipping for 16.00 XZL's. I really like the availability, tread pattern, and higher speed rating of the 395's, but I do not want to drop in tire height either.

Fuel and Oil Pressure only working halfway....

My float also filled up. Newer ones are poly. Stock electric oil pressure gauges typically read only 3 positions: below 0psi, a needle above 0psi (idle), and 30psi (above idle). Don't expect anything more than that. Go mechanical if you want much increased accuracy and resolution. But...

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

The 24V ISC (8.3L) can be converted to run a conventional mechanical pump if it is a screaming deal. I have seen them for cheap before.

Anyone regret goin to 16.00r20 Tires on M923a2?

Good question. I am soon doing the same. Stories I hear are they rub slightly in the front on a full turn, and rears can hit the bed at full articulation. Also, slight loss of low end power. I am wicking up my 8.3L this summer, hoping for over 400hp (pump, injectors, timing, turbo, charge...

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

I would at least fire it up as-is. If it has little to no blow-by, and the hot idle oil pressure is good, then just install and run it.

    5T is HOME!!

Spend a little more time researching, it seems you are in kind of a hurry to jump in quick and get what you want. All your answers are here, but if we have to keep explaining them to every new guy that walks in, then it is kind of pointless to try and create a library of knowledge. Last...

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

Apology. Didn't know the heads were different? Seems silly. No combustion chamber to really speak of just flat with 2 valves? Is injector angle different due to different piston bowl? Rest makes sense. I think he is leaning toward the bus engine, but it has 600k on the clock.

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

Just the governor on the back of the injection pump. You can swap governors, or the entire pump assembly, to restore variable speed operation for road use. Bus ad sent via PM.

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

The heavy duty engines (855) require a different doghouse, and probably a few other such mods. Should be no big if you go that way but I don't think you are. The $1900 8.3L eBay bus was listed 3 times with no bidder so far, they will take less, but you will have to throw them more cash to pull...

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

I actually want to see this now. Jamb it together, leave the radiator cap loose one click, and run it!

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

That is because the mil 8.3L is equipped with the Bosch MW pump, 10mm plungers and shorter stroke. Once swapped to a 12mm P7100 pump, then it holds true. Will find out more about required turbo and injectors to achieve this. Let me know if you have an EGT gauge installed, or if you want that...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Well, I don't know what else to do to get you guys more excited. Once you have a P-7100 12mm pump, TST promises from over 300hp in EPA form, up to 525hp off-road. In reality, this is really not much more than standard non-military and marine power levels, respectively. But it goes to show the...
