That's what I thought too. Thanks for confirming. The unit seems to handle the fluctuating load well when burners are set on something less the "high". I usually keep the oven door open and run a fan off the convenience outlet to keep air moving around the range.
I'll go get a can of deoxit...
Guyfang, so if I run your K8 test with no O/L tripping, what does that mean?
I see two possible outcomes, correct me if I'm wrong:
1. K8 test with normal loading and no O/L tripping
2. K8 test with immediate trip?
Also, I am using an old electric range for a load. All four burners on high and...
I've used nearly a full can of good quality electrical parts cleaner. I may have to try "deoxit". I need to leave the top cover off until this problem gets solved as suggested by others. aua
An interesting note here, my previous 802a would load up to 125% and chug black smoke. I never tripped...
I've got a similar problem with my 803a. It will run under load (50-70%) for 10-15 min and then trip the overload. If I load it up to 100% or more it trips within a few minutes. With advice from jamawieb, I've taken the top cover off and used electrical contacts cleaner on the reconnection...
Nice work WF. It always amazes me how well this equipment starts up after sitting so long. Changing fluids and hooking everything up correctly will do wonders. Keep us posted on your progress and keep posting photos of the work.
Oh, also make sure you check oil levels in the drivetrain. Hubs, diffs, tranny. Probably a good idea to buy and carry some gear oil and a tube of RTV silicone.
That's a really nice looking rig. Keep us posted on the return trip. I'll be here in TN rooting for you. I'm in west Nashville, so if you need assistance on your last leg of the trip, just reach out. I can PM you my number if you like.
Other than horrible departure angle... no. However, I think it is wise to angle the rear up some (as much as possible) somewhat like the gray rig pictured last to improve departure angle. If you are hauling quads maybe they could park on the ramp and be lifted into place when closed. You could...
Guys, I saw this truck along the highway near Scottsboro, AL a few weeks back. I talked to the guys in the shop. The truck belongs to a local fire department. I believe they are building a brush fire truck... That all said, their first modification was to add a set of 53's. I thought it looked...
Riderdan, did you pick that one up at S&S Truck Wash is Cookeville? I stopped there a few weeks ago and sat in that truck if so. It was a pretty nice one. Had the pioneer tool rack in the rear if I recall.
Congrats on the recovery. It is always a success to be able to drive one home. I did...
One guy bought a tach from me early on and was going to try an install on a CUCV. I never heard back from him, so I don't know if he got it to work. The challenge is to find a clean RPM signal somewhere. The schematics seem to indicate a feed available on the alternator. But again, I'm not clear...
