Welcome aboard from TN. There is a wealth of information here on SS. Be sure to read up in the HMMWV section! I'm headed to pick up the M-1083 on Friday. I'll have some familiarizing to do as well. I plan to spend the long holiday weekend checking all systems and testing things.
Be sure to...
I put them back as I thought this was just a pass through block/attachment point. I guess the real question is if the correct wires are matched on either side! I think that will be my next item on the list to check. Any guidance on TM sections/pages for wiring diagram? Thank you.
$400 total is much better than $375/ea for the NOS cab air ride units on the big auction site. I will definitely keep this in mind if I ever face failing air ride!
Time for an update.
Received shipments from my auction site orders:
1. Spare K8
2. Better multi meter with amp clamp
3. NOS Weller Solder gun (new in box, but old model which had been sitting in an estate sale). Wow, it works great!
So to the generator...
In previous posts, I detailed...
I googled "military clearance lights" and came up with lots of vendors

(No affiliation, just google results)
probably some available on the big auctions sites too...
Gunny, would you care to elaborate on, "we build these"? Is there a webpage or link you can provide? Feel free to PM me if it's not appropriate to share here on SS forum for some reason.
Maybe the reason there is not much information on this is due to the impracticality. It simply hasn't been done with long term success. That said, the question still stands related to how the towed vehicle transmission could be cooled or drive train disconnected to effectively flat tow. While it...
Duly noted. Thanks for the UOC suggestion. I am still learning the lingo and sources for info!
I'll get a good test on the resistors this coming weekend once my new meter arrives. If they pass, I should be ready for another load test before I move on to switching out the K8.
Any advice on...
Ok, I took apart K1 today and cleaned the insides with deoxit. It really wasn't too bad and seemed to be making good contact. There were a few minor burns spots on the contacts, but were not charred. Here are photos:
They look a lot darker in the photos than they did in person...
I will also...
I would say the biggest factor would be your willingness and ability to work on it yourself. Driving daily is secondary and certainly livable if your commute is short. I never had buyers remorse, but do have the sellers version of the same... I say get one if you like to tinker! I'm working out...
I just pulled K1, and may have found the problem... Shouldn't this be a 60 Hz??? See photo of tag on K1 rated at 400 Hz.
Also, here are photos of the inside...
it's pretty clean. I haven't taken the Allen screws off the top yet, but am not sure I need to if this is a completely wrong part...
I was just out there testing the burden resistors per the TM, but I can't get readings that make sense. I've read somewhere that they should really be un-soldered and tested for most accurate readings. However, the TM reads that they can be tested in place. To complicate things, I'm using an...
