    Batterys

I've got an old ugly set of 6TL's in mine now, ship date of July 2010 and they get the job done even when the glow plugs are burnt out. With a CUCV, it's not so much, how much battery do you have, it's more about, "have you got fresh glow plugs" and "have you switched them to 12 Volts and...

    Where's Your License Plate?

In the glove box next to the tag receipt and insurance card. No problem in GA!

Thoughts!!! considering buying and adapting a modern drivetrain.

I'm considering buying a F800 with a 8.3 Cummins equipped with a Bosch P pump, and Allison 4 speed auto to replace my Deuce's drivetrain along with a set of 4.90 to 1 Oversun Engineering gears and some Steve6X6X6 disc brakes. It would be alot of work but it does seem like a heck of a project...

Convert CUCV to 12v pro vs. cons?

About 98% of the truck is 12 Volt already. I do recommend removing the resistor from the firewall behind the air cleaner and supplying the glow plug relay with 12 Volts off the main 12V bus on the driver's side of the firewall. Other than that, I'd leave it alone.

    hydraulic head torque

I just put a HH on this afternoon. How in the world could you torque them if the rest of the injection pump is on the truck? Good Job though, not many Deuce owner's have pulled a HH!!

    AC 60G glow plug issue

I just replaced mine with the AC 60G's. 5 of the SWellenman's need extraction help with the OTC kit, just put them in about a month ago. I also did the recommend resistor bypass this time, replaced the connector's to mate up with the new glow plugs and all is well on this 2 acre's. I also put...

Any Ft Stewart/ Southern GA owners willing to teach?

Back in the day (not THAT long ago), I was Active at Stewart. The hobby shop there is pretty good, they have most almost any tool you could ask for, and it was only about $3.50 an hour for a bay. I only pass through there now and then since I joined the GANG or GA National Guard. The nice...

    Difference between M931A1 and M931A2

The A2's are nice, newer, sometimes have a working CTIS and always have a turbo. Now, add a turbo to the "old" NHC 250 and bump the fuel and watch out. That big motor want's to run!!! I love the A2's and have always loved the sound of the big cubic inch Cummins in the older trucks. I've...

Need help. Spining the motor by hand.

I would chock the wheels, put the trans in 5th and rotate the jackshaft between the trans and transfer case.

    M931 Question

M939's have straight air brakes. Requires at minimum a CDL B in Georgia, I'd go the CDL A route just in case a LEO tries to give you a hard time about driving a tractor without a CDL A even with no trailer behind it.

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

We put the truck in 5th, high transfer and moved the entire truck. It can also be done in gear with a wrench snaked through a universal joint. You would have to get very lucky to line the marks up with the starter. We're talking, a truck in 5th moving almost 1/2 an inch to get things lined...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

10-4 Gimpy, that's the plan. I only saw 1 O-Ring at the base of the HH, sorta recessed into the IP body. The owner is ordering a kit from White Owl and the plan is to put it back together Saturday. I believe it was leaking more into the shut off housing than anywhere else but the 1 o ring at the...

    Which Tractor?

The M818 or the M931 or 932 would have pulled the shop trailer. The M915 or M916 were for line haul units. The M915's and M916's also have commercial Freightliner VIN's and in most places cannot be registered without Commercial Plates. That also means commercial insurance from what I've...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Great thread, it's been a wonderful read and I've read it a couple of times in the past few days. I just pulled a hydraulic head today for a buddy. It went flawless. He's having an issue of making oil on a truck that already has the FDC bypassed so here we are. The truck ran fine prior to...

    8V92s all over GL

I'd love to have a 8V92, I just don't have anything to put it in!!! Those things make tons of power. I've driven many HEMMT's which are very heavy trucks and that screamin jimmy makes them all look like they're standing still. We always ran night convoys and our mechanics claimed they had...

    936 has a new home

Welcome to the club my friend!!!! Hope your's is as nice as it can be and I hope you take good care of it. I love the crane on these, makes lifting the snapper up on it's tail for an oil change so much easier and I have an excuse to operate the crane!!!

    alternator pulley in wrong place

I figured it out today while working on the M818. The 800 series have a recessed pulley on their alternators like the one that you described as lining up with your set up . You purchased and 800 series alternator and that's why the 900 series pulley that I sent you didn't line up. Both of...

    Frustrating 809-series sprag!

Renewing an old thread as it was most useful to me. I have a M818 that was experiencing sprag problems. Most notably, every now and then it'd feel like a axle had dropped out from under it accompanied by a loud bang. Each time the axle was still under there and nothing appeared broken. One...

    6.2 gear drive

Tanner, you and CUCVNUT have some unresolved animosity from somewhere that I don't really care to know. PM him some contact info, ya'll curse each other out and be done with it. You posted your opinion, he doesn't seem to like any of your advice or your signature line. I'll get involved with...

    9:00 V 11:00 tires

The flaps are fine, the tubes are different. That difference even goes as picky as to whether your running 11 NDT's or 11 Radials. The Radials require a different tube as they normally run higher tire pressures and need to be slightly more robust.
