    Hard to start

you've got a fuel line leaking somewhere. It may not be a bad enough leak to spill fuel but it's bad enough to allow air to seep in when the truck is not running. I've been there before, I suspect the hard plastic lines!!!

    6.2 gear drive

aua OK, now I'll ask if we can all get along. If ya'll don't agree with one another, don't read each other's opinions or posts. An internet forum is a not really a good medium to channel your anger through, PM each other your phone numbers, call, talk or curse each other out and let it be...

    M1028ff

They look just the same as any other M1028 once the fire extinguisher is removed. Search NOS USMC M1028 on here, you'll see the pics. Mine happens to be 1 of 3 that was kept in Norway for about 20 years and only had 2189 miles on it in it's first picture.

    MK48 for my MK17

I found one in my backyard, no armored cab, came from Leonard Wood and has about 1300 hours and about 22,000 miles. Be careful driving it without the rear body unit as it is like riding a mechanical bull at a dive bar and it is capable of flipping over on it's nose if you jam the brakes while...

    6.2 gear drive

Not sure where that came from. I almost wanted to play Dr. Phil for a moment and ask if we could "all just get along". Anyhow, more to my input on this. All HMMWV's with a 6.5 that I've seen run the gears. Uncle Sam does tend to waste money but he also is a fan of reliability. I do agree...

????FDC and Flame Heater already bypassed????

You're FDC is most certainly bypassed, can't tell from pics about the flame heater. You're getting fuel into the oil from the hydraulic head. At 2600 RPM and full throttle, it has to fight a maximum of 80 PSI of fuel from the primary pump "feeding" the injectors. At idle, I want to say it's...

    Wrecker wishlist of mods

Oshkosh MK 36 MTVR Wrecker has Cat C-12 with 425HP, 1250LB FT Cable connected remote, 1 for MHC Crane and outriggers, 1 for Rear Spade and retrieval winches. Auto Trans for those that like it. Jake Brake with Low, Medium and High Settings. CTIS that works. Air Ride Driver's seat. 65 MPH at 2100...

The OP will likely crap his pants when he comes down there to get it!!!!

So...What happened to all the deuces. Need help in Oklahoma

When I was out at the National Training Center in CA back in the 80's we unloaded vehicles at the railhead in Irmo (just south of NTC) He said "if you think that's impressive you should see what is stored under the mountains around here". I don't know if he was yanking our chains or not...

    Injector Fouling cure

Found a crutch. We have an old GM Diesel guy at the base. He said it's quite a common problem to have a pintle stick open on occasion and cause the dribble. His cure, pour 2 gallons of PE 10 Preservative Oil into an almost full tank of fuel. You could easily hear the change when the motor...

    Gl lack of cucv's

As for Guard units with CUCV's, I've not seen one in GA for quite some time. We turned our only CUCV in, a M1009, about 2 years ago. Some are still being used on larger installations by "Observer Controller's" during training evolutions by Senior NCO's since they certainly look different than...

So...What happened to all the deuces. Need help in Oklahoma

OP, it happens. I bought my personal deuce for $1045 from GL. 130 miles away, I did a preview. Here's the bad, batteries were dead, no cover or bows for the cargo area, leaking axle seal, D Turbo. Here's the good, it ran fine with new batteries, made the trip home, had 3/4 of a tank of old...

    9:00 V 11:00 tires

Because you can, they look tougher and you want to since you started the thread!!! I'm staying with the duels even though I don't need the capacity, they just look mean don't they. I may even switch to 395's on the front since they're supposed to be about the same OD.

    5 ton air release

Imagine if you had let applied those brakes in a puddle of water. When you let off, what happens. The brake chamber diaphragm returns and draws in whatever is available. If you never plan to take the truck off road or in water, sure let the air chamber's exhaust under the truck. I'd leave it...

    alternator pulley in wrong place

I hate that the one I sent you was not correct. I pulled it from a M923A1 just as your truck is, still had the belts on it when I got to it. Perhaps they have different alternators, the pulley came off a 60 amp for what it's worth and every M939 I've come across has that same alternator.

    Frustrated with idle

Phil, If it's truly a gallon of coolant bubbling out, I'd be concerned and ready to change the gaskets. Try this trick, take about a cup of water and pour it out on your driveway. You'd be amazed how big a spot just that small amount will make. I personally am more prone to fix a coolant...

    Engine Paint color?

This is a picture of my truck when it had 2,189 original miles. I'm going with black as the others have said. I also know that when you get a new GEP 6.5 in a can, it's going to be all black with the exception of the aluminum intake and all the red and blue plastic caps in the openings. I've...

    Frustrated with idle

The oil is coming from above the exhaust manifold. Possibly valve cover gasket. Even if it truly is the head gasket, I've read many times on here as well as in some older PS Magazines that the Army puts out that it's considered normal and fine on a multi to leak a small amount of oil between...

    North GA to Florida---

Dawson, GA is considered SW GA and is about 30 minutes from me, I could easily help you with that. It think your referring to Dalton, GA which is up North near Tennesee.

    Frustrated with idle

My truck did the very same thing after a turbo install during which I broke the plastic lines going to the flame heater on the intake. It became hard to start when cold (30 seconds of cranking opposed to the normal 1/2 second) and would hunt for idle. It'd run fine once I put my foot on the...
