no voltage from a thermocouple?? how do you suppose it works?? magic? two dissimilar metals, when in contact and heated make a small voltage with almost no current. the older type gauges were just meter movements and read this voltage directly. problem is they load the couple. all the modern...
the parts are available from places like digikey, i have one here i need to repair. if i had several to do at the same time it may be cost effective. the switches are only something like $125 new.

if getting a higher top speed is so easy, why have so few done it? my first millenium reo ran 74 mph @ 3000 rpm, the second runs 65 mph @ 2500 with stock engine.
the mpg was the easy part, and 12 mpg empty and 11 mpg / 8klb load is pretty impressive for this size truck.
if you change the...
not so, you are only talking about less than 4500 rpm at the driveshaft. the only issue i ever had was the 90 wt oil in the transfer would foam at 70+ mph, and you should run 40 wt in the trans and transfer anyway to save fuel.
my first 'milleniun reo' had it done to clear the cat motor and the 6000 series trans. only the cab was raised. you will need 2 pieces of 1" by 3" for the front fender mounts and a shoth piece for the rear cab mount. also the steering column will have to be moved, mine had u-joints and an open...
this is a very easy thing to solve and keep it safe. 3" square tubing under the cab and bed, redrill holes for fuel tank and tool box brackets. lift kits that change the suspension are unsafe and illegal in many states. just my 2¢
14.5r20 mich can only be mounted on 12 wheels if they are tubeless as no one makes a flap that wide. for tube use, 11" is the max wheel width.

well, lonesome glad you found this. send me an email and i will add you to the list of interested parties.
i said this last year and i will say it again now. my truck with .71 od, dual brakes, hyd power steering, will be at aberdeen. anyone who wants to drive it is welcome. come look at it...
the transmission upgrade has already been designed and tested. production has been the problem. also a deuce engine does not have enough power to support any more than .71 od, but that gives you plenty of speed. the prototype is running in my truck now.

RE: Wiring Re-Smoke Kits
are we talking about the same joseph lucas who invented darkness??
and why is it that british switches close with very light contact pressure? is this so the 'smoke' is not harmed?
gerhard pretty much covered it and has good pictures. most modern transmissions have engagement dogs that are undercut to hold engagement but the ancient deuce design has straight cut dogs and any wear will only get worse. it relys on the shift fork to keep things in position. likely you will...
i would reccomend you find someone with one, M-4 body, all the same on 2 1/2 or 5 ton or trailer. look inside the access plates when open to see what you are up against. too much whacking on the square drive will just round it off and then you will be worse off. many of those leaked water inside...
don't be afraid to buy one with broken spool handle mounts, i am having them made for tom (spicergear), 4 for about half the price of one from grove.........
i used a 9' meyer commercial for years in MD. the trucks do not hold up well to salt, the truck is just a pile of rust today. it had power steering, which i think would be a must have.
