Welcome to the Outfit! Happy to hear that you are the proud new owner of a M1123 as well. I know it isn't nearly as exciting as turning wrenches but it might be worth some time spent "hitting the books" (The TM's - Technical Manuals). Free to download here on the site.
Some pictures of...
Touch-A-Truck Event here in Charlotte
So, with today being Flag Day it was perfect timing to bring two of my trucks out on a road trip. The public library's are hosting those events nationwide. I snapped a few pictures. We had a Fire Truck, Charlotte Water camera truck, a Library...

I have done it in the past. Seems like at dusk was the plan back then. I may have "reversed" the file (black becomes white) so it is easier to see when projected.

Yes!!! Now quick... Go somewhere - even just around the block while everything is working as it should!
Sure is nice. I can speak from experience. Working, Broke, Working Broke, Working... Over time though eventually all those things get repaired and stay fixed. That is part...

Wow!! Dang that could have been a bad day if you had jumped on the freeway at speed. Wouldn't have taken long for something to have ended up broken. Including the possibility of it being you!
Crisis Avoided for sure!

In Montana it might be a long way to ride, but avoiding those particular people - especially the lady with the cobwebs - might be worth the drive... Maybe?
We have "contract stations" here in town who do a much better job than the state government employees. They actually care about doing a...

A lot of MV's don't have "standard VIN's.
A word of CAUTION is that the paper pushers at the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles in North Carolina) have a book under the counter that instruct them what to do with a non-standard VIN. You will read (on here) about them padding a VIN with...

Matt, it might be possible to project the outlines of the truck from the TM onto your truck with an old school "overhead projector" so you could draw out the lines with chalk. It would make the shapes a lot easier than free-handing them.

With you 100%
Tomorrow is why we have big green trucks... Library just across the big road is hosting a Touch A Truck event. Got a police station for a neighbor and some oak trees to park under. Temperature tomorrow is 101, so I don't know what kind of turnout there will be. I am...
.
Well, that IS interesting... I started looking and stumbled across what you need to know.
26. PATTERN DESIGNS
See Figure 31, for example of the CPP for the
M113A1, Personnel Carrier. Within each area is a
number that stands for the color to be painted. There are
five views of the vehicle...

There is a TM for that
TB-43-0209 Paint, Color, Marking, Camouflage is attached below.
Page 74 is just for you!
I have to vote YES for RAPCO paints as well. My M936 has consumed two cases of "Rattlecan" paint over the past few years. Most of mine has been repairing rust patches...

Not sure that 60# would have worked with no weight in the back and with the back end up in the air. Sometimes that stuff just seems to happen because of where you needed to be... The CTIS book says that Mud and Snow setting would be 25# and "Emergency" pressure could be 12psi.
Drive back...

Nice on the linkage. Glad you got it built for the weekend! It may be worth rounding those sharp corners on your lever.
On the PTO, there may be different versions with High and Low speeds. The only ones I have seen on old Deuces were in and out at one speed. Logically, paying out cable...

First and Cheapest thing to look at would be fuel filters. Even if they were changed recently, maybe "something you fed your truck" has gummed up the filters?
.
That's great news!
Being a card carrying, dues paying member should create a little more money for sure. AND there is an expectation of better quality folks that you will be associated with as well. That job hauling new Peterbuilt's should cause you to have a First Class tractor to pull...
.
So... Back to zero and the least expensive and simplest way to try something new. What if you had a fuel can and some brand new hose out to the truck and a second hose back to the fuel can?
It only needs to run for 10 of 15 minutes to be better than what you have now if I remember correctly?
