I'm not sure that @chucky used a shovel to pop the tire bead off the rim. I think he was talking about using a shovel to ease the rim and tire on and off the hub. Might be wrong.
Only thing I have seen to pop a bead off a rim is the hammer made for that job. Heck, I even saw a YouTube...

There is another piece of government paper that DOES specify American Made tied to things like steel and vehicles and small arms.
The Buy American Act (BAA) of 1933
It requires the federal government to buy American–made iron, steel, and manufactured goods wherever possible. According to the...

Keep waiting... Sad but true - and the government operates at a different speed than the rest of the world... It might be worth making a phone call to be sure that you have everything properly filed and possibly ask "where you are" in line.

Welcome to the Outfit! Welcome to the hobby too. There are quite a few folks here with their "Flusies" that earn living with them.
Be sure to check out the TM section for maintenance and parts books.
We are a bunch of picture hounds, so when you get your New-To-You truck be sure to post...
.
Just be careful... The state DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) has hammered a few owners with a MISMATCHED Serial Numbers. The DMV could have one number. The Insurance Company could have another number - and they don't match - then you get the nasty letter from the state. They are NOT...

Sure would be nice if you end up with another running truck... Amazing how a little research here on the forums or in the TM's will "flip a switch" in your brain!

Dads have seen more and done more things...
He might be the smartest guy you will ever know too.
There is real value to broke down in the yard at home.
Especially when compared to broke and on the side of the road.
One way you gotta find a solution now. The other way it can be done over...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Congratulations on you New-To-You truck too. Time spent checking fluids will be well spent for sure. A second driver following you with tools and fluids sure will be nice if something goes wrong. Spending a little time reading through the Technical Manuals (the -10...

Got a pretty good idea that the Board Of Education (Paddle) in public schools and the switch or something similar at home has a lot to do with how most of us were raised. I don't think I am any worse off for the wear because of it either!
.
Well... At least South Korea has some of our trucks there.
Not exactly OEM, but they might be good quality. New rubber will be the key to happiness and the safety bar was a major topic of discussion in these forums. A definite plus if the rubber turns loose later.

An extra 16 years on the 30 year old bones does make a body a little slower than it once was. But, if you are enjoying yourself - More Power to You!
Mine is a set of 30 x2 +2 year old bones and some days it takes me a little longer than it used to too. What I have noticed is that most times I...

I see that you found the way to upload. Your original thread was in "conversations" and those are limited to talking. Most of the rest of the site is capable of image uploads. You definitely have a nice looking truck...

We used Coffing Chain Hoists (brand name) to move the axle in to place. There may be other ideas, but leaving the wheels on the axle will simplify alignment. Leaving the wheels on will also keep you from accidentally "preloading" the torque rod.
Long years ago, we had a 60 ton press that...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Thanks for taking the job of training the next generation. JROTC offers the kids a lot. Even those that decide not to enlist will benefit from the leadership training.
Guessing that you have already discovered the TM's that are available here.
Be sure to post up...

Dang. Looks like a heck of a plan!
Having the removable wheel will be really nice if you need to work under the dash. Might be worth cutting a tennis ball (or similar) to drop down on top the "base" so you don't get a knot on your face if you lean over in to it.
Will be interesting to see...

You can skip your trip to the gym this weekend!
Hustling those tires will wear a body out. Using a flat bar and or standing and lifting with your legs with your back to the truck helps a lot. Glad to hear that you made good progress.

We do our best to have fun here. Hopefully you didn't take @NDT 's really funny picture as a personal insult. It wasn't his intent for sure... That really is why a Deuce and a Half is called what it is. That's the "guaranteed by the manufacturer" weight carrying capacity of the truck in...
.
Sad, but they operate at a special speed.
It's called "Government Speed" and it isn't very quick.
Might also call it "Political Speed" (Go Brandon!)
Use your time to read up on the Technical Manuals so you know more about your truck when it arrives. We have all been through it. It sucks...
.
Well, glad to hear that we have useful stuff! Happy to see you join up and that you have a nice "new-to-you" truck too. Like several of the guys suggested, the TM's will be useful for sure. One called the Lube Order (LO) that will tell you how much and what kind of oil and grease should be...
