I appreciate the kind words, but the real people who have made the rally grow and keep going are the attendees, the MKT crew and all the people who help with registration, setting up, running, cleaning and taking down the MKT operation, the trail ride leaders, etc.
We're only keeping it going...
I have read that the large quantities of excess grease are a military thing so that if you have to repack bearings in the field, you can scoop some excess out and use it.
I see that as 50% likely. The other thing that's 50% likely is the novice 19 year old mechanic thinking better to be safe...

As long as you read everything in post #2 (linked below) you should know 99.9% of what there is to know about the rally

I am obviously biased, but you really can't go...
I have 2 keepers, my dump conversion M35A2 and my '87 M35A2C. I really like the Deuces, I think they're about the best MV out there, other than maybe a Jeep. Jeeps are much smaller and easier to use but a deuce is really nice to have around the house. I have a mule and they're awesome, but...

I owned a British vehicle once, I vowed never again!
Q. Why do the British drink warm beer?
A. Because their refrigerators have Lucas wiring...................
Welcome to the site.......... although you've been here for awhile.

No loss on the CUCV (please forward all hate mail to recovry4x4 :) )
The best advice I can give you about buying a deuce is to spend a few weeks just sitting and reading the deuce forum. You'll get an idea of what...
I get the idea with ballast resistors being bypassed. Just surprised they did this with oil pressure this way.
Big part of why I left the Mopar hobby. Too much of those kind of people.
How would this work on startup?
I can understand a low oil pressure kill switch for when the engine is running, but there is no oil pressure at startup and there isn't for at least a second or so. So if the protection box kills the solenoid when there's no oil pressure, how does the engine start?
I don't think the cork lasts very long. I've had pretty good luck with RTV and I've probably done no less than a hundred (hubs, not trucks) at this point.
I've had 3 fail and 2 were the same hub, same truck; which leads me to think it had a bad hub or something.
I have a deuce here I am doing pinion seals on and the driveshaft flanges are grooved-does anyone have the speedi sleeve #'s for these?
I have used "fixer" bearings for GM axle shafts where the bearings ride on the axle shaft and cut grooves in them and I have seen sleeves in use never...
Elbow gasket (going into the intake manifold) or turbo to exhaust manifold gasket?

1. Although scheduling is difficult, we would prefer rallies not fall on the same weekend. Not going to be a problem if they do, just a preference.
2. What would we need to do to convince ya'll to come join us for a weekend of Southern hospitality? 106 trucks in 2012, big swap meet, MKT...
That looks like a pretty decent candidate for restoration to me. I am going to assume it's been converted to 12V and you'd need to patch the rollbar holes in the bed and find a factory seats, but otherwise looks really solid.
You have about 3 months to get it ready for the rally! See the link...
Sometimes, people will not show up to the rally at the last minute (not to mention non-rally attendees who have rented facilities). I'd start calling a bit before the rally and maybe you'll get lucky and snag one.
I need to find out who the current D-town point person is for us. Lauren...
