What he said.
One thing that will slow down the process is if you have moved around a lot in the last few years. This causes extra work for the people at Battle Creek and we all know how much goberment employees like extra work.
The process has been speeded up somewhat but if you are a new...
Note to all the gluttons for punishment out there. My scrapper buddy still has the 2 M123's and the M925. While I admire these brutes I don't have that much machochist in me. They will have to be winched onto transport and are in pretty rough shape. I think one is a gasser but I can't remember.
Welcome to the 5 ton club.:cookoo:
When changing tires seek professional help. Those super singles weigh about 500 pounds each and the CTIS parts are made of unobtainium.
Be very careful when taking the parts off when doing tire work.
Download the manual and follow the instructions.

She runs great.....must have been the TLC you gave her.
I still can't believe those trucks are so gearbound......the M915's with the CAT transmissions would run 75.
My original intent was to pull them stacked with the M927 and coverter dolly but a couple of issues came up.
(1) Redstone has almost no tractors on the lot that I could have used to back one trailer onto the other (backing with the converter dolly is a no go).
(2) I didn't think the M927 could...
I putt-putted along at about 50MPH which is a good speed for the M915 with the Allison in it. It was mostly flat land with two decent hills to climb.
Because I would have been hung out in the breeze trying to dolly it down. At my age I can't afford to fall on my butt onto the asphalt.
That...
Having driven both 800 and 900 series in the Active Army I have to admit that the automatics are nice.
My left knee is shot and not having to work a clutch has convinced me that my M927 is a keeper unless someone comes along with a pile of money.
I'm not a big fan of the Allisons in the...
Went on a mission today to bring back two semi-trailers from Redstone. I borrowed my buddy's M915 (actually the first M915 I ever bought) to do the recovery.
Murphy put in an appearance early when I discovered that the brakes would not release on the first trailer I hooked to (bad air...
Very nice looking rig. The first time I took the M927 to a local street festival I parked in with all the antique cars. Several of the owners got somewhat miffed when the "big old Army truck" stole their thunder. I always allow the kids (and even grownups) that want to get in the cab to do so...
Having put a lot of miles on HEMMT's in Korea I'm going to give you the benefit of my experience:
Making right turns will take a while to get used to. You will have a tendency to either turn too quickly or too late until you get oriented to the path the wheels take. For some reason left turns...
I've noticed that the pickins are getting very slim at my favorite GL honey hole. I was up there Tuesday and there were very few trucks/trailers on the yard. Last year at this time the DRMO lot was packed and the GL lot was standing room only. My guess is that sequestration has cut down funds to...
There are still 900 series trucks in some of the Reserve and Guard units near me. Units have to have new trucks on the ground before they turn in the older trucks. This is where funding comes in since some units are way down on the totem pole for getting their TO&E upgraded. It is entirely...
You are buying a mule.....not a racehorse. When used as intended the deuce is a capable and fun truck.
You can't gold plate a turd (well, you can but then you just have an expensive turd).
They are tougher than woodpecker lips and will do some amazing things (see "hold my beer and watch this")...
Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo:
Six grand should get you a pretty nice deuce with a hardtop and winch (if you want them).
You are directed to attend the 2013 GA Rally in Oct. Lots of Florida folks make the trip and you can convoy with them.
I'm just too old to wrestle 500 pound tires anymore (the M927 has super singles).
My plan is to use the VISA card with the big limit on it for roadside assistance. If I have an issue at home I can use the 1 inch drive impact gun to get the tire off and load the offending tire with the front end...
