    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

. Interesting... My battery carrier is a really large fan belt (twice as wide as a belt on my Cummins for example) Rubber between the battery posts gives me more flexible with different battery sizes. GUESSING you must have some sort of insulator between the posts and the metal carrying handle?

    Elusive Electrical Gremlin

. Let's see... In the dark. On the side of a busy highway, In the Rain, with a Heavy Wind - without a flashlight. Yep. That seems to be how it is. Or in the middle of a 95 degree day with no rain for weeks and about ninety percent humidity.

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

. That's interesting Tracer... The DC-8 has a pretty good crab angle coming over the threshold. I noticed in the following image the trees aren't leaning, so maybe the air is different a little lower. :) Had to snag a few screen scrapes... Stavenger is over in Norway and a quick look...

    LQ9 6.0 LS engine

. Welcome to the Outfit! I would bet you that your boy will remember that project for the rest of his life... Looks like you have done a lot of neat stuff with your truck - and there are plenty here that have had power plant upgrades. We don't have a lot of "all original snobs" here. Folks...

    WY/CO Chapter

. Sad to say, but the part about they have "our money" to fight every step of the way is so true. Same for vehicles and for weapons...

    Mep-004 making no electric

. That's a good start. Now carefully (stinging bug warning) crack open the covers and shoot a round of pictures of the inside.

    Mep-004 making no electric

. Hi Knjs, Welcome to the Outfit! This isn't a truck, but there are lots of folks here who work on Green and Tan colored makers of power. Lots of folks here too that offer up suggestions and starting with pictures of exactly what you have will help. Might be that a few pix will make it...

    Rear curtain window

. If you can't find one surplus and you want Glass or Plexi like @Action suggested, get yourself a piece of cardboard and trace the shape of the opening. Carry that cardboard to a glass shop and they can cut it for you - and chances are good that you can buy the rubber channel that holds the...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

. It's a nice feeling to own your stuff. Or maybe I should say that You and The Government. So long as they get their "cut" you can keep your stuff...

. Don't worry over the speed. Those big long knobs will let you ease the lever forward or back to gently move the boom or raise the winch. I call it "sneaking up on the action". Valve doesn't have to be pushed all the way forward for sure. Having FLU's hydraulic experience, this truck's...

    G749 preservation

. Wow @m1010plowboy , that's difficult. Happy to hear that family and friends were able to be able bring forward some fun out of the passing of your mother. That is a hard place to be. My mom left us suddenly and three years later, dad checked out in a few weeks while in the hospital. So many...

Won my dream truck, need dimensions of reducible portions

. Agreed. I stood out there looking - and there are curves and set-ins and offsets all over those doors! It would literally take WEEKS to just to measure those doors and the left and right aren't perfect mirrors or each other either. Drawing a blueprint for just the doors would take weeks if...

. The crane PTO needs to be operated at either 1500 or 1800 rpm's. Not sure which, but I am almost certain the higher speed. The real reason is to keep you from burning up your Allison Automatic. You already know about hydraulics, but obviously weight on the end of a wire will turn you over...

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

. That's great! Hadn't seen you for a while. Thinking maybe you had retired from working on green machines.

    Elusive Electrical Gremlin

. That is a NICE looking electrical board! I have looked at the idea of adding solar panels just to the top of the cab on a couple of M108x trucks, but I have no box on the back. One is a tractor and the other is a wrecker - so it would be an electrical exercise more than having a need to...

    Elusive Electrical Gremlin

. @blutow , I don't think better and clearer instructions on how a HMMWV electrical system works have been posted. Okay, so it is a lot like what @Milcommoguy explained to me about grounding (I learned a lot in that discussion.). I think you are on the right track too. @diesel_dave , this...

    M1008 Build

. Agreed. Wasn't suggesting anything about caster or camber or alignment. Just moving the wheel left or right to center it up. Making the left side longer - or the right side longer (sorry, I don't know which way to go) will absolutely turn that steering wheel. Obviously it will get better...

. Yes. The more the vehicle sits not running, the more the fungus will grow.

    hot-locked motor

. Hi anu7464 , The black dirt can happen in just about any sort of diesel tank. It is a result of the "fixing of the fuel" to make it more "eco friendly". It could be in your tank today and in an excavator (off-road is slightly different). Same black crud could be in the tank for an...
