Agreed! On my 83 (plain Chevy truck) pumped full of gas, I could drive for a week before the needle moved off of full. Not a long ride to work, so that seemed reasonable to me.
@DIVE DIVE, I think the measurements that you have done are pretty useful. Now you know that at a Quarter Tank -...

Hi Vince,
Welcome to the Outfit! I had no idea where Winterville is/was, so I went and poked the web and found it close to Greenville NC. Sorry you are so close to Raleigh. Not much of anything comes out of there. Just taxes and legislation that isn't very useful. :-(
If you get a chance to...

It really is amazing how buying better quality tools make life so much better... Even that can be the old "Good, Better, Best" proposition. Having FUN doing a project and not fighting the tools - well - it just makes the job easier. Glad it worked out well for you.
Vacation is a good thing...

@Warhound_01
You also mentioned Pacific North West... Might be worth reading the thread below. Got a MV Rally (Show) that might be a good place to meet people with similar interests and parts for sale.

Welcome @Warhound_01 !
Welcome to the Outfit! Be sure to create yourself a thread in the HMMWV section with pictures of your new-to-you truck. Maybe snag one or two of the auction pix and then when you go pick it up. Heck, might even take pictures if you go recover it yourself...
Anyhow...

If they were NOS (New Old Stock) parts, problem could have just been stored in unconditioned space. Not especially with good temperature and humidity control - and in the dark - not exposed to UV (think fluorescent lighting).
Just a guess.
Or like @John S-B suggested where maybe you got a...

Wow!! That is great news. Anything you can share about what it took to solve the problem? Oh, and by the way - have you tried attaching a Conex to the bed of your truck? With the bottom pins that could (in theory) hold it in place?

When you open the TM in PDF format, search with "FIND" on a mobile device or CTRL + F on a laptop or desktop computer. Then when you are looking for "359F" the computer can do all the work. It is a real PAIN to hunt down anything in these thousand page books without using search...

Most are insulated. Especially "workshops" and "communications shacks". Generally it is roughly 2 inches thick and when the guys at the yard skewer it with the forklift, it becomes obvious. Some of the ISO Containers are also insulated as well.

The other pretty important part of using a tow bar is that line about DO NOT EXCEED A SPEED of 20 MPH over primary and secondary roads. I was fairly sure I saw in a TM recently that the number was "thirty" but either way, going fast shouldn't be happening...

Don't count on that. We have had several folks here at SS not get their calendars by way of USPS. Sad to say even they have problems getting people to show up for work - with a government job. Sad to say that too many people were spoiled by getting a check for doing nothing... Enough of...

Any chance that maybe you could go back and re-torque the bolts again? Maybe when it got warm something wiggled its way loose? Did you check the heads and the block to see that they were nice and flat using a steel ruler? It isn't like having the block or heads "surfaced" but at least you...

Well then... Welcome to the Outfit!
Chances are good that several of the guys will talk your ears off on CUCV's and there are some nice looking ones posted by their owners. Not so sure if you will come across that dime-a-dozen stash of diesel engines, but if you find it - I'd bet there...

Apparently there was an island wide power outage on Sunday 4/10 in (on?) Puerto Rico. Supposedly they are beginning to restore power. No real details on what happened. I would imagine that Internet Access is or would be really limited there too.
Hopefully all is well and in a few days we...

Wait a minute... I think OSHA would believe you need to add a hand rail.
Especially if that wine tasting got you more than two steps up the ladder

That is a lot like DOT3 vs DOT5. For more than a hundred years, the old stuff worked just fine. Somebody felt the need to fix something, so they did. Is the new stuff better? Well, technically yes. But it was just fine before it was fixed. Anti-Freeze is the same way. The old green...
