Yeah, that's basically what I'm thinking about doing. Except that because my truck is singled-out, I could extend the flatbed deck a bit outside the framerails. Can really build much storage into the deck, because I've installed a 12ft loading ramp from a uhaul truck between the framerails, and...
That's a great idea, and I would like to do something like that, but wouldn't do me much good if I'm traveling and don't have any way to bring that extra bed with me.
Do any of you guys have an extra hydro-max master cylinder/booster setup laying around? Don't even care if it's in usable condition. Right now I'd just like to have something I could use for mock-up, to see if I can make it fit under the cab, using the stock brake pedal. I'm just so deep into so...
Right on. Thanks for replying. I'm reconfiguring all the storage under my cab right now, hoping to improve the ground clearance and break-over angle. What I can't move, I'll build skid-plates for.
Do you know how that 6x4 Kodiak master cylinder is configured? Just wondering how different (if...
Yeah, just found this. That's an awesome bed for sure, and might have been something worth considering if I wasn't already so far into this project. But it's too tall. Think I'm just going to have to build something custom. No big deal.
Well I've already got a nice truck, but these are the kind of suggestions that I'm open to. How much does a pipeline bed weigh? What do they look like?

If you're going to run 53's, you ought to just cut off the front fenders. Yeah, cut them off. Completely. Imagine it would look something like an old fenderless Ford roadster. At least it would eliminate most of your clearance problems...
Yeah I considered going that route too, but an M109 box is already pretty small and I'm planning on living in mine fulltime for a while. So at this point, it's all about figuring out how to make something work with the M109 box. At least, for me. Would love to hear more about what anyone else...
Looks like the hydro-max system requires between 3.2-5GPM and 1000PSI, and according to gringeltaube, the 5-ton multifuel PS pump puts out 5-6GPM and 1000-1500PSI. I need to make some decisions about what components I'm going to use in the steering system before I'll know whether the 5-ton pump...
I'm planning on converting Mah Deuce to a fully hydraulic steering system, and I hadn't decided what to do about upgrading the brakes, but after re-reading this thread I think I'm going to start collecting parts to install a hydro-max system.
I'm going to try to do this while retaining the...
I'd rather not share my plans for the suspension just yet, as I haven't put a whole lot of thought into that part of the project. I've just got too many more pressing concerns.
Thanks for adding to the info about the hydraboost setup. I read about someone converting to hydraboost on here, and...
Got Mah Deuce pretty well stripped down. Took the old cab off today, and I'm getting ready to pull the engine. Removed the pitman arm so I can take the steering box out, and took a few measurements. I would have to take the leafsprings apart and cycle the suspension and steering to do this...
