I like the flatbed....easy to add a gooseneck hitch and use my lowboy trailer.
I also know where there is a small twin boom Holmes wrecker bed I can get cheap.......I'm thinking of getting a M931 to bob and I like the idea of having switchable beds.
If I did a 5 ton bobber I'd put air ride on...
You might also want to check out Camp Shelby, MS. There is a rebuild facility located there that used to rebuild the 900 series trucks (mostly tractors and wreckers). You have to be careful and have someone preview them. Some trucks are new rebuilds, some are trucks that were awaiting rebuild...
You can never have too much knowledge....please send it.
Wayne has converted several vehicles and seems to have it down to a science.
We are more interested in using the technology for stationary power at this time but at some point it time I'd like to run a vehicle on woodgas just in case I...
We used to wedge a small block of wood under each side of the back of the hood to allow hot air coming off the engine to hit the windshield from the front as opposed to the warm air from the defroster hitting it from the back.
Unless it is super cold it works pretty good.
Recently I went and visited a gentleman named Wayne Keith who has been working with woodgas generators for several years. He took my buddy and I for a ride in one of his wood powered Dodge pickup trucks and I was impressed.
I've run deuces off serveral types of fuel and know they are pretty...
Some of the trailers have a pintle hitch attached to them but that is for moving the trailer around when it's detached from the MK-48.
A five ton would pull it but it would not like it.
Hooking a drive shaft from the rear diff on the 5 ton to the driveshaft on the trailer is a non-stater.
It depends on how you ship it......on a full sized commercial truck you will pay more. Ironically you usually pay more for a short haul than a long haul.
A deuce is light enough to ship on a "Hot Shot Rig".....that is a big dually pickup with a lowboy trailer. If you find someone looking for a...
The 50 bucks covered removing a 500 pound tire/rim, breaking it down and replacing the O-ring and putting it back on the truck....did I mention it was about 98 degrees in the shade.
As I said.....money well spent.
The usual suspect is the O-ring that goes between the two halves of the rim. Next culprit is a leaky valve stem.
You can put a tube in these tires......I have one in the spare for the M927.
I had the O-ring replaced in one of my tires at my local tire shop for $50.00 bucks and it was money...
I've had a couple of bolster trailers and they are great to pull behind a deuce. I had a deuce dropside bed mounted on the last one which made it very handy for hauling. Being low to the ground they are easy to load and the neck extends out to adjust for different loads. If GL hadn't FUBAR'd it...
I'm doing this from memory so bear with me. The M916 I drove did not have a switch to engage the front axle....it was engaged when you engaged the power divider to lock the rear axles. Have you tried engaging the power divider and see if the front wheels pull? Or is that the issue?
The 8.3 Cummins has an electric fuel solonoid that de-energizes and if it does the truck will not start. Said invention of the devil is on top of the injector pump and has a silver teat sticking out of it. To reset it rotate the lever until it pushes the teat back up into the housing. You will...
You cannot.....I repeat....cannot get a title for a vehicle this old with a Bill of Sale in Alabama. You can get a tag and registration. I have gotten titles for older vehicles but only if I had a title from GL or from another state.
My guess is that the owner got this truck when deuces were...
I thought the Burning Man event was when a bunch of weirdos got together, danced around the fire naked and howled at the moon....why would anyone want to get together with a bunch of other like minded crazy people and.........errrrrrr.....never mind.
